Ugh, I've been thinking about the Shiv for awhile now. It doesn't help that Alex randomly came into the guitar shop I work at and we talked about amps and shit for like an hour and after finding out more about it I just want it MOOOOOORE. Now look at that combo. guh.

Schnikes are you still loving the shiv? Have you made any clips/recordings with it?

I haven't recorded any clips but I have quite a few Alex sent awhile back. I can send those your way for sure.

I really love that amp tho. Great variety, gorgeous chimey cleans with single coils, excellent low-mid gain tones (really shines here!) and a pretty tight and saturated high gain with humbuckers. That said it'll get loose and raunchy sounding as well, sounds like a beefed up vintage amp when gain gets cranking. Nice and loud for 30 watts and EQ and voicing options are useful and make for drastically different results. Loves pedals in the clean channel, absence control eliminates sizzle nicely. Great amp all around. :thumb:

That Mother looks awesome! I just ordered one to go along with my Decolonizer in a multi-amp rig that does guitar and bass tones at the same time.

I think you could get there with the mother alone.

Not really. I have two separate chains. One goes to a guitar amp and another goes to a bass amp. The bass side goes through an octave pedal and a bass preamp. Its two completely separate rigs running at the same time. It wouldn't work through one amp.

Oh, nice setup!
Which octave pedal and bass preamp are you using?

The top POG generates the octave down signal. The other POG is in the guitar chain and feeds the second so sometimes the bass rig sees a signal two octaves below what Im actually playing.

How are you finding your other newer Science amp, Shannon?

Cheers!
Oh, nifty setup, so that works hey, with the two octaves down and all, it doesn't thin out too much or get overly glitchy?
What do you think about the B7K, doesn't it sound like the drive channel on whichever modern transistor bass amp a bit?

Man, those Science amps seem rock hard to me, radness to the bone, they use Mercury Magnetics iron right?
I think it's not easy tweaking an amp with Mercury Magnetics right because the sound can get too controlled, which to me is the Achilles heel of lots of boutique amps, but when done well you can make something really awesome out of it.

I dont have any glitching issues and my current bass amp doesn't have a drive channel. Most dont.

Transformers have very little to do with whether you can tweak an amp to your liking. Thats mostly controlled in the preamp.

It's fantastic. 100W via 4xKT88, just a beast of a 2-channel amp.

The standard clean channel is more of a Plexi voicing but it's got plenty of headroom until you get the gain cooking. I also had a filter mod done on this channel to scoop the EQ out and give it a Fender blackface sound. Beautiful sounding. Loves pedals!

The gain channel is crazy versatile too with an OD mode that cleans up nicely and goes from Plexi-style crunch on up through JCM800 levels of gain but with a great tight low end and low mid tone. The high gain setting will also do crunch and moderate gain levels but enters Soldano and Bogner XTC levels of gain if needed. Just mean as fuck sounding.

Oh, and it's the first effects loop I've ever actually enjoyed using.
