^ I love kaleidoscopic effects, what did you use to make them? I've dabbled a bit in Adobe After Effects, but would love to try something else, if there is anything...

i use vegas pro. i apply a number of effects, mainly light rays and different mirrors. i use any video footage where there is movement to run through the effects.

Wow, I'm going to have to try that. AE has an actual kaleidoscope effect with adjustable patterns, so I've never tried cascading mirrors in Vegas before. Seems like you could probably get a lot more variation that way.

indeed--the effect depends on the raw footage, and the variations are endless. this one is a short video (iphone) of a tile floor as i was walking, with a mirror reflecting the bottom and some light rays in the center (with some color adjustment)--easy peasy.

Here's a little demo of the AE kaleidoscope effects. The first half of the video is 60 separate two-second clips, which were originally (mistakenly) rendered at 12 fps, created from an oversaturated still photo of an aloe plant. The second half is the same 60 clips, with the frame rate adjusted to 30 fps, making them each a little under one second.
