Here is my new Jazzmaster. It's a steel hollow bodied one made by a french luthier called Loïc Le Pape.
He makes custom made steel bodied guitars and can do about anything (he already made Les Paul's, SGs, Gretsch's, Tele's, Strat's). See pics of other guitars on his myspace: www.myspace.com/loiclepape. It's really worth seeing. :)

Mine has a piezo captor under the guard to amplify every noises made on the guitar. the results go from a sound that is like hearing Robert Johnson playing on the other side of hell's gate to turning the guitar into a percussion instrument
.
I asked to put the TV Jones pups you see on the pics but they were not the right pups for this guitar. I sent back the guitar to the luthier so he'll enlarge the pup holes to put a custom pickup kit I ordered from David Barfuss.. I'll put new pics when I have it back..
Anyway, here is how it looked so far:

Hey thanks a lot ! When the new pickups will be installed, I think this guitar will probably become my main axe because it can provide sounds I cannot get with any other guitars.
Here's a little clip I recorded using both the neck pickup and the piezo at the same time and just a reverse delay and nothing else (but take in account that those TV jones really lack in the bass frequencies.. it will be much better with the new pickups. )
http://media.putfile.com/PiezoNeckPupRevDelay
Here's another one showing the noisy side of the piezo+pickups.. the fuzz is a DE ShoeGazer with only the first channel on (if I remember well)

Yeah I know James Trussart but what's great is Loïc Le Pape guitars are handmade by himself (and he's very commited to meet the buyer's needs.. in my case he even proposed me options I'd never thought or dreamed about !).. and to simplify production, James never made any curved top guitars. Loïc Le Pape's Les Paul or Gretsches (or whatever !) have the real shapes and contours.. check out his SG on his myspace: it's amazing.
Oh and the real good thing is they costs half Trussart's guitars price !

I can give you his mail address by PM if you want to ask him questions or price inquieries (prices are according to what you want but they are surprising low considering it's handmade and one of a kind guitars).

It's hard to describe but it's sharper, the notes are more precise (i don't even know if it's a word in english ! ) and "big" (they resonates more) and it has more sustain.. but it's not at all colder than wood as one might think in the first place.
I'll record proper clips when I'll have it back.. maybe create a thread for that.

In the sample with delay, there's some kind of buzz. Is that from the piezo or just delay noise?
Constant resonating metallic buzz would pretty much be the coolest thing ever. Non-electronic fuzz and distortion. Would be like using a pick and a bow at the same time.

Yes it's from the piezo.. but I forgot to mention that the idea behind the guitar was to push it toward noise territory and in order to do this, he made the pickguard special: he used some plane aluminum so the guard quietly "shake" on the notes sustain.. it adds some kind of noisy drone to it. It's very subtle when using only the pickups so it doesn't get in the way of a trad sound but you hear that much more when the piezo is on (and the piezo has a volume pot so it's easy to get the right balance)
I can't wait to try this guitar with the WMD Geiger Counter I just ordered.. I feel like the use of both will give really interesting results.

I work in Bayview. Would love to have an apartment down there, but all my friends are up here by UWM, so I'm a Shorewhore.

Edit: And can I just say, that koyl and NewarkWilder's guitars are amazing+gorgeous and have rekindled the need-new-guitar impulse that I've so long repressed.
