i'm waiting anxiously to see whether they put through my insurance payment that's to drop on Tuesday and give me a $100 overdraft i can take care of by Wednesday morning, or i get a late payment penalty. i'm gonna be so glad when my end of the year bonus shows up and i can catch up a bit.

Sometimes I buy a can of chicken and dump that in there. I know canned chicken seems dubious at best.. but it's bomb

That's what beans are good for! Best cheap + nutritious combo attack. Easy to combine with the ramen too.

and isn't beans on toast the English national dish? or does that require some disgusting side-dish?

Yep that's pretty standard. I've heard it lovingly referred to as "skinheads on a raft"

My lady is a Brit and I'm pretty convinced they're hiding some junk food mastery up their sleeves. The other day she was telling me we should make a "fish finger butty," which sounds kinda horrifying to an American but is actually just a delicious sandwich made of fish sticks, cheap white bread and some kind of mayo / butter/ HP sauce kind of thing. Guh, I'm into it.
