Ok that's cool. Montreal is rad, and Quebec has the most relaxed liquor laws in all of Canada. I'll never forget when I had tall boy in a paper bag walking through the downtown. But I can't speak French to save my life so...D.o.S. wrote:'cause Montreal is fucking rad.

But the best poutine I had was from a food truck in Ottawa served by a man who was proud to say his curds were made by himself.

I refuse to eat Cuban food here, knowing full we that I'll be disappointed compared to my time living near Little Havana.
... Or, you know, having lived with Cubans.

Yeah, I believe it. And I can't really speak French outside of "Bière, please"WayToHip wrote:Ok that's cool. Montreal is rad, and Quebec has the most relaxed liquor laws in all of Canada. Ya, I avoid pork now though I did love me some pressed-Cuban sammiches once upon a time. I don't, however, need my coffee to be like meth. Greek coffee is a viable alternative if the need ever arises...and easier to find anyway.Chankgeez wrote:You sure, rustywire?

Poutine > everything else.
First had it when I visited Newfoundland, a trip where I also got to enjoy cod tongue, seal flipper pie and moose spagetti. All of those far superior to any Cuban sammich I've ever tasted.
The Newfies also tried to tell me they invented funnel cake, a thing that I've had multiple other regions and people try to claim was their's. It's not. Funnel cake is about as Pennsylvania Dutch as it gets, and is frankly second only to shoofly pie in PA Dutch cuisine.

El Oriental de Cuba in JP isn't too bad. Nothin' fancy though.Inconuucl wrote:I refuse to eat Cuban food here, knowing full we that I'll be disappointed compared to my time living near Little Havana.

Yeah, Cubano Vegetarianos for me.rustywire wrote: Ya, I avoid pork now though I did love me some pressed-Cuban sammiches once upon a time. I don't, however, need my coffee to be like meth. Greek coffee is a viable alternative if the need ever arises...and easier to find anyway.
I used to like the Café Cubanos I used to get when visiting my parents down in Florida though.

Making Cuban coffee is p easy though. I'm actually surprised that they sell the legit coffee and everything needed here in Boston.
I need my coffee to be strong enough to kill a man. During my undergraduate days I would be crazy enough to combine cold brew with an espresso shot and dark chocolate. I don't think I can even go near a drink like that anymore without going into cardiac arrest.
