bastahds.
Nah, I got a good amount of enjoyment/playtime out of Dishonored, there was even a fairly nice twist in there that kept things interesting near the end (plus the last mission itself was great). I'd say it was about right, lengthwise.
Dishonored is more of a gameplay based "oh fuck I'm done with the game?!"
Spoilerish:
You know, the whole instant sneaky kill thing= Fight through awesome last level, climb up superstructure behind the bad guy, and WHAMMY done.
Yeah, that. It's fine length-wise and there's still a lot to do even after you finish (redo the levels and try to do them differently, etc), but it really does feel like they had to finish the game by a particular date and went "well ok let's just have the game end here, it's a good place to end it I guess?" But maybe they were trying to not do the whole "make the last level more challenging and give the player a huge-ass challenge in the form of a final boss (or something)" thing?

Yeah I see what you mean, the last mission, although you knew it was the last mission, did end very suddenly. I like that they didn't put an artificially hard boss in there though.

Vanilla-quest-wise, I think FO3 is a better game, but NV makes a better sandbox than FO3 (especially with some of the 3rd-party quests available on the Nexus). And I agree w/cloudscapes on NV's main quest being a bit too convoluted in the last half...too much of a balancing act in keeping everyone happy.

I'm finally back on the VG wagon... I had a Wii for a while, but I just got a PS3 a few months ago so I'm actually part of the HD generation now.
First game I grabbed was Bioshock and, while a bit "older", I loved nearly every second of it. A great introduction to this generation. Looking forward to Bioshock 2, and Infinite looks very good.
I picked up Red Dead Redemption because I'm a big Rockstar/GTA fan, and it's pretty good... I just feel like I need more modern shit to smash and shoot at. I like the idea of being rewarded for honor in RDR, but welp... it's a little more fanciful to just go around killing thugs and blowing up cars and stuff.
Also have Resident Evil 5, but I'm waiting to play that with a pal.
I don't know anything about Far Cry 3, but it's getting very good reviews and looks pretty darned fun.
I love games that let you upgrade your weapons... where you have to pick and choose what's going to get you through the game. Resident Evil 4 is a great example of that. Missing from a lot of other games.

not sure if this belongs in this thread but here goes: bought a lady friend a copy of GOTY Morrowind for x-mas, and it cost me 50 bucks (!!!) why is a 10 year old game almost as much as a new game? is it really that rare? also, this

PC or console? Either way, that's an overcharge...PC GOTY is on Amazon for around $15 or so, console is about $20-25.

Console. I ordered through a vintage game store cause local economy small business yadayada so I understand if there's a little markup for profit and all that but now I feel like I got robbed blind

I guess charging twice the price is understandable, but my bank account disagrees

Points for doing local brick 'n mortar, but yeah...price is bit steep. And 'vintage' doesn't excuse it here, imo.

Holy crap is being in open water stressful in Far Cry 3; even when you're not in shark hunting territory.

My friend works for a video game review website. She said they've had it since last week, and apparently it's VERY snipery. She said it's not a bad thing, but people who like sniping will definitely enjoy it a lot. she also said, and i quote, "DUDE YOU KILL SO MANY SHARKS AND GATORS!!!"

Yeah...open water really gives me the heebie jeebies. Heart starts to race and everything.
In fact, I don't even look underwater unless I have to. I don't want to see it when it's about to get me

Running animals over with my jeep never gets old. I love that you can place mines on vehicles too..put like four mines on the front bumper, load the rest of the car up with C4, bail it into an outpost and wreck everything in one go.

The ol' Mercenaries strategy.

Welp, on impulse I went out and bought Far Cry 3. I never do that.
My immediate problem with the game is that I hate the main characters. Like right from the start... rich, spoiled, suburban white kids. So the problem is that I don't give a shit if this kid dies. I don't relate to him at all. Would have been cooler if it was like some nerdy high school science club or something. I just think he's an ass. I prefer characters like Jack from Bioshock, John from RDR, CJ from GTASA, etc. Samus. Marty McFly.
The other problem is the aiming... you aim and what's there to help you? the gun takes up the bottom part of the screen and you can't move fast enough to aim properly. I like the sneaking around, but then you have to fight off some dogs and they just run below your line of sight and you're fucked.
