I've been to the lakland factory. It was amazing. I think I tried their entire line of basses before I picked the Decade Bass.

Yes, the pickups are handwound in Chicago, the guy who makes them is really nice. The korean ones are equally as high quality as the american ones, it's the wods and the hardware that is different. The main difference to me is the tuners, the American Lakland's tuners are 100x better than the import's tuners, but they are still good.
All of the Basses are set up in Chicago before they go out to stores though and all of the Lakland Luthiers are really amazing people, the head luthier especially. The factory cat is cool too, but Dan could cut down on the smokes.

Needed a decent guitar of my own. Played a bunch and ended up with the SC-2. Really spoke to me.

Neat!
Do you still have that sweet-ass green sparkle Big Al? I think it was a Big Al, anyway...

Dude! That's like a treasure or something! I would renovate that thing like crazy!!
I would take it apart, sand it off, make sweet sweet polishing love to it and seal it back up with clear boat paint (it's the most shiny clear paint you can find around here)...
idk why but I like that guitar a lot!

Oh... and btw if i were you i would probably want to change the pickguard because it looks like someone got murdered on it... just sayin'
