level art. terrain, vegetation, locations and outposts. a square kilometer here, a couple square hundred meters there, part of the intro, etc. mainly in the north-east corner of the entire map.

I've played a bit of it. It's pretty awesome.
Cloudscapes, that's super cool.

Yknow I actually had more fun exploring the Capital Wasteland than playing through the plot and the missions in FO3. Played through the plot, of course, just for the sake of "finishing" the game, but yeah, found the exploring aspect to be much more satisfying than the actual plot.
FO2 is still
best though. Which reminds me that I've actually not done my yearly play-through...
Also, unrelated, but I was reading
Edge and found something that captures how I feel about Dishonored (and Hotline Miami, and, yeah, the Hitman games, etc) quite well:
Where many open-world action games are akin to sandboxes, Hitman: Blood Money is perhaps best viewed as a series of toy boxes. Each level is relatively small in scale, its parameters easily defined, but the possibilities for inventive play are numerous. The game offers several testing grounds for crazy assassination ideas, whether that’s working out the ones the developers have designed and signposted, playing out scenarios cooked up entirely within your mind, or setting up old-fashioned shootouts.

I find that I reeaally love exploring in fo3 and nv, but the quests and stories just aren't nearly as good as those in fo and fo2.

Yeah, exactly. The smaller, more detailed worlds (and first person perspectives) of FO3 and NV do encourage exploration a lot more, and are admittedly a bit more directly immersive, but man, the first two are on a totally different level story-wise. Hell, gameplay-wise too, although yeah ok Ian totally shredding you with an SMG over and over does get old quite fast. And both are just as immersive once you get into the groove of things. They leave a lot more to the imagination, too, which I like.
I think NV's a lot better plot- and quest-wise than FO3, though. Of course, you could argue that having a better plot than FO3 isn't much of an achievement, but, well, I unno. I did like NV quite a bit.

Much prefered FO3 to NV, even though a lot of people were the opposite.
A lot of that is probably because both times I started a game on NV, at some point (mid way, and near the end) the world I was in glitched out and either the faction I was most friendly with decided to hate me for no reason, or the other time the game was asking me to kill members of the faction I was most friendly with. Never finished it either time.
Also, the decor in FO3 is more inspiring!

"Coolness" is not a prerequisite for this job. it's not that big a deal.

i like that a lot. that's a very good summation of how, for me, Dishonored is like the powerd of a free roaming game harnessed and used for good, not evil.

It's a lovely game, innit?
But goddamn the ending does kindof suck/is just too bloody abrupt.

Nah, I got a good amount of enjoyment/playtime out of Dishonored, there was even a fairly nice twist in there that kept things interesting near the end (plus the last mission itself was great). I'd say it was about right, lengthwise.

Yeah, I totally agree about that, I was just lumping them together from a 3d open world explore-y perspective, NV had better quests, better gameplay (hardcore mode, more crafting and such) and better atmosphere/environments imo.

Dishonored is more of a gameplay based "oh fuck I'm done with the game?!"
Spoilerish:
You know, the whole instant sneaky kill thing= Fight through awesome last level, climb up superstructure behind the bad guy, and WHAMMY done.
