It's a Japan reissue and basically in perfect condition. I've searched for one (vintage or reissue) at Ebay for quite some time and always lost the auction with 1€, seller would not ship here or something but finally I got it and could not be happier about it. I like how the sound is really different from my other basses and being a short scale bass, it's of course different to play with.

FTW!!!
Throw some flats on that bad boy and thump city.

I built it. It's my own design, I modeled it after a Princeton but hot rodded it up to 45 watts and added in a boost tonestack cut. It's modeled lookwise after a Silvertone combo but then I bought some surf green tolex so it doesn't really look like the silvertone anymore

ever since i got my AC-15, i've wanted to change the tolex. then i realized i have no idea how to do that. but i'd love to have the most obnoxiously colored AC-15 on the planet.

It's actually totally easy to do. You buy your tolex, get some vinyl flooring adhesive (which is basically rubber cement) from a hardware store and then after you pull off the old stuff its super easy just like wrapping a christmas present. The only problem with wild tolex is the amount of guys that come up at shows to ask what kind of amp it is. Guys with whitesnake shirts...

I could understand if it was snakeskin or something but surf green still draws 'em out too?
Regardless, looks great and sounds like a cool design

Also, I suck at wrapping gifts so my tolex job would be shit.

Well it's like the thing is I have no idea why somebody who's into Whitesnake would listen to the sort of band I'm in or even be in the same bar/whatever. But everytime I play somebody comes up and wants to have an hour long conversation about the clean tone and how I shouldn't ruin it by putting pedals in front of it

80's hair metal was a strange time that i hope gets forgotten. whitesnake is one of those bands that i hope gets forgotten one day so that other civilizations don't look down upon us.
also, what exactly goes into making an amp like that? it sounds fun, but how labor intensive and complicated is it? and what's the cost for something like that? always curious about that kind of stuff just never really asked.

Well, in Australia, everything you wanna by component wise is about triple the price so I ordered everything from the US with the shipping that goes with that, so it'd be cheaper stateside I'm sure.
I spent about like 350 on components cause I got like the Mercury Magnetics transformers and fancy valves (tubes or whatever) like 100 to make the chassis, like 40 on wood for the case, like 500 on the Celestion Gold speaker, and like 150 on all the cosmetic style stuff. So like yeah a lot now that I add it up, like 900 US

first time I've added it up
But I wanted to do it as a step up from building effect pedals, the amp tech I took it to for a once over when I built it said comparable amp value for a small wattage boutique custom design might be like 4-5000 so I dunno. Doubt I'd ever find a buyer though willing to pay that sort of ridiculous price for a small combo amp.
Building an amp was more an exercise in proving I could do it
