I'll go thru my stuff every few years and see what I can build up out of it all, and donate those machines to the library or somewhere like that. Warm fuzzies, etc ensues.

d'awwww!

yeah. i dunno. you're way more experienced and knowledgeable about builds than i am... i was never more than a tinkerer. i used to love saving a few hundred building my own machine with all sound damping components and the fastest i could afford..... but now i can buy a built PC with installed Windows (instead of my Always Had Some Issues ripped copies) that after removing all the junk-ware are very decently fast for the limited use i have for a desktop (pretty much just audio recordings/video recordings/manipulations) that my mobile devices don't cover..... i'm like an end user that doesn't do much more than websurf, with one specific need for a faster comp.

DAMN NEAR A LUDDITE.

wait.

I read that the Wii U's hardware doesn't even stack up to the current 360 and PS3. It can do HD yeah but not much more. Also read that you can only use one Game Pad controller at a time or that a software upgrade is needed to use two at once... or something like that. I'm confused what direction Nintendo is going. My prediction is that it will sell but not nearly as well as the Wii.

On a different subject I'm getting addicted to Dishonored... I don't have the patience for playing all sneaky so I tend to kill lots of dudes. Fun stuff. When you first start out upgrade Blink 1st. My 2nd favorite is Bend Time. If you like to play sneaky Dark Vision is a must.

Another fun albeit frustrating game is XCOM: Enemy Unknown. They're working on a patch because easy mode isn't easy enough for some people... I might fall under that category, not sure yet!

 This is the 1st Bethesda game I've played so I have no preconceived notions of if they make good games or not. What other ones have you played before?

See, that's where modding comes in; you can literally custom-build your game, using the base game as your...base. BethSoft themselves say that they make sandboxes with a few quests stapled to it. And Oblivion suddenly is interesting, as long as you stay away from the main quest and about half of the guild quests. And the stuff for FO3 is amazing.

You do, however, need the PC versions of the games...console won't work.

Aaaaactually, Bethesder didn't make Dishonored. Only published it. Hence why you can actually find stuff in the game.

mudd - appreciate the insight, but HAVING to mod a game to make it fun? that's like NEEDING a blender to make a pedal work. SOOOOooooo not interested in that.

Bought FO3 during the sales, put about 3 hours into it but never got back to finishing it. Was distracted by Thief: DA and more BL.

i'm not the target audience though.... i suck at sandbox games. i like the IDEA of a huge world where you don't have to follow one path... but they take it to such extremes that i end up playing for 8 hours and haven't done anything in the main story line so i feel like i didna accomplish anything. which kills the fun for me.

murp.
