if you really think that Shakespeare sucks, for the love of God take a decent Shakespeare course. read him aloud as his works were meant to be heard: the sonnets, Macbeth, A Midsummer Nights' Dream which would make dead men LOL, Othello...his artistry is incomparable to ANYTHING in the English language, and there's a damned good argument that everything in English-language literature after him stands on his shoulders. just check out the number of new words he coined, or the spots where he drops two or three puns into a single line.

it's about an agsty teen bitching about his life and failing to get laid because he's lame and a prototypical emo something about a strange hat
perfect And my issue with Shakespeare is that he's practically been canonized for a couple faggy poems and some plays that should only be looked at as excerpts. Though the movie with Leo was bitchin...

Read so much Shakespeare in school. Loved Midsummer Nights Dream. It is hard to grasp if you aren't familiar with the lexicon of the era, but even so you have to respect the innovation of the time.
America has some good authors. Palahniuk, Robbins, Sedaris, Naomi Klien,....uh,...uh,...okay that's about all I got,...I don't read as much as I should, but at least I'm not totally turned off from literature.

Was never a huge fan of Shakespear. I remember reading Chaucer in school though, and I thought it was great.

early in this case being defined as immediately post WWII?
Because, you sir, might want to remove your foot from your mouth. You're skipping Thompson, Kesey, Wolfe, Pynchon, Bukowski's books, David Foster Wallace, and Vonnegut... among others.
Shakespeare is kind of meh. His formula is great, and some of his sonnets are awesome, but he's definitely a bit more of a one-trick pony than most people give him credit for.

It'll be up there as soon as I get some free time. Tentatively Sunday. Trying to get some camera equipment together for the WITTR outside in a field show, but we'll see.

It was my old power strip that fried this afternoon. NOT MAH TRAYNOR! 70's Canadian technology and a good amp tech ftw! Traynors are both OK, boss 9v's and pedals too. This plus football game on tonite = super win day in my world.
