Yeah, it is sneaky, but you could also just use some of your super-awesome powers (which you have to unlock, of course, via runes you collect/buy) to mow down enemies if you don't feel like sneaking around. To paraphrase an example in Edge's review, you could deal with three guards in close proximity by jumping down onto one of them, performing a sneak kill, then slowing time, drawing your pistol and blasting his buddies' heads off, then, well, just blink away onto some rooftop.
Or, of course, just sneak past them, etc. I find it's a bit less "all guns blazing" and more "okay three guys over there, what's the quickest way to take all three out without causing too much of a ruckus so I can move on to next group in relative calm?" though, but maybe that's just my playstyle and preferences?
I really appreciate how the game gives you a significant number of choices—well, at least as much as a videogame can be expected to provide you—in completing a particular mission/level, both in terms of eliminating enemies (see above example) and getting to where you need to go (front door? climb through second floor window? climb then blink up to third floor window? possess rat and sneak in through sewer grate?); the level design offers you enough options to make it feel like the entire level is at your fingertips. It's just such a hoot. So much fun.

Certain aspects of the game are indeed influenced by how much "chaos" (IOW: killing people, etc) you cause during missions; it does subtly hint at the stealthy approach being the preferred approach, but it doesn't necessarily penalise you for taking the bloody approach.

neat. i'll probably check it out then. last thing that ACTUALLY worked as rarely having to sneak if you don't want to where the Batman games. i liked the first one more than the second though. but i kinda hate sandboxers.

Yeah, but chaos isn't really related to stealth that much. I mean, I played stealthy and that just meant I murdered a shitload people, stealthily. So chaos was really high but I was sneaky as fuck. I guess it is impossible to get low chaos without being stealthy, but that's kinda the point and idk if it really affects stuff that much.

Far Cry 3 is pretty awesome so far. Certainly better than FC2. No more getting chased by cars that are faster than yours at EVERY CHECKPOINT, no more breaking your arm after climbing some stairs too fast...
The environments are beautiful and it really is an "oh shit" feeling when your jeep is sliding sideways down a cliff into some blue, blue water.
Last time I encountered a group of enemies while out of ammo, I ran through a pack of pissed off emu-looking things and they kicked the shit out of those guys. Murdered em all.
I've been killed by a shark, a buffalo thing, komodo dragons, quite a few wild dogs, and a tiger once when we both peered over the crest of a hill at the same time and I couldn't ready my bow fast enough. lulz.
This game lets you shoot seagulls in the face with a flare gun. It's a good game.

...totally forgot about this thread...
PC stuffs - anyone else picked up Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition? PC edition dropped two days ago, Mac/iDevice in a few weeks. The 'oficial' forum is a giant bitch-fest about how the game sucks, mostly from folks who are trying to run it on a mid-lvl business-oriented laptop. The things you see when you don't have a gun...

Yeah, maybe "nonlethal" was the word I should've used.

Can't decide. I'm interested because I absolutely love the game, but I do already own the original and that still works fine so...

Yeah, I was all "FUCK YEAH" when I initially heard about it. Adding a couple characters and stuff from the later games doesn't seem worth it. Would have been neat if you could multiplayer with the old version.
And Behnder's pick up Dishonored! Super fun, and playing super stealthy is super boring. Futuresailores liked to teleport behind a group of guards, stab one in the back of the neck and then play hoppy death bunny to kill the rest.

I still have my OG discs as well...the new release has been optimized for more modern monitors tho (no need for 3rd-party mods, etc), along with some new content added (including two new NPC's that can join your party) and what's essentially a stand-alone fight arena. Not a bad deal for $20.
I rolled up a test character just to be sure the game runs well on my system (which it does) but I'm also hold off on a full-blown game for a bit to see what may happen with updates...the dev's say that this release isn't going to be the last by any means. There's also talk of a similar treatment for BG2 later on.

urfgoh. GOOD. i'm kinda in a No Gaming Moratorium right now. the grrL is in town and that's a much more fun system to play with. natural high def!
but as much as i lurv Borderlands 2 i kinda want to not play it until they raise the level cap. CoD fulfills my mindless fun, screaming at the intravision, "I FUCKED YOU TO DEATH. WITH BULLETS. DIE FROM MY MEEEEEAAAAAATTT GUNNNNNNNN!!!". but a more in depth game is always appreciated as the main thingy. i'll pick up Dishonored by next Thursday. she heads back then, we have a show that night, then i got mostly song retoolings/polishing before we go into Le Studio mid January.
YOU PEOPLE ARE CONVINCING.

I still haven't picked up Borderlands 2 yet...I think I'll wait until after I rebuild/upgrade my game rig and then get it off of Steam.

yah. i never game on PC. i have a laptop for torrents/web browsing that i use knowing it's going to get infected with some viral badness. it's specifically for torrents though so wiping it and starting over is easy peasy. there's no extra software to install. the other PC is just for music stuff, i got it running really well and leave it the FUCK alone.
i only game on consoles. it's more money for the games, less for the hardware, and i have it hooked up to a 60 inch screen. works well enough for me.

I go thru upgrades like this every other year or so, but since my game rig is also my testing rig, it's a bit easier to justify. Plus, it's pretty much my main entertainment setup as well (films, music, etc). Main problem is a box full of dated hotrod gear afterward...I may put together a home server later on, built from leftover stuff that would otherwise sit in a box getting dusty.

yah. i just took the like 9 boxes of old computer parts and cables and outdated av connectors and just SHIT i was kinda hoarding, got rid of almost all of it and got everything super filed into like about 4 boxes. went with, "if i have 3 of them, get rid of the rest. if i haven't needed these in a year, get rid of ALL of them." unless they're the IEC power cords. can never have enough of those buggers. i have like 20 of those things. USEFUL.
but yeah. SO MUCH CLEANAH.
