Love it. Big Manic Street Preachers fan, and I like the Sex pistols, so what other colour was I gonna have a Les Paul in? Considering new pickups and some pin-up decals at some point too.

This piece of shit is what I like to call "my guitar".
It has no knobs or switches in it. The pickups and tuners are "stolen" from a Ibanez Artcore AF-75... yeah someone broke the head of.. so I had to recycle the parts.. :-( but I am not a guitar or bass player... So I only have this guitar to test out my diy pedals...

Two volumes to the jack.
The stupid "Wagoneer" logo and seatbelt are both from my first vehicle, which was more of a beater than my bass. Truly terrifying to take it up to highway speeds.
The only reason that the bridge...bucker is not falling out is because I literally strapped it to the body -- two screws/washers on either side of the pickup hold black wires taut across it
And the "pickup ring" was crudely fashioned from the lid of a CD storage box. Speaking of crude, I obviously chiseled out the pickup cavities and the little recession required for the bridge.
Tuned to C standard because the only spare strings I have are a HARDCORE DROP TOONAN ROTOSOUND set. The B sucks, so it became a C.

The Ric bridge was a lucky find in b/s/t. I needed a bridge with narrower string spacing to better match the mudbucker coverage area; the lowest and highest strings were quieter than the middle two. So it worked out!
I feel like it's "complete" now. Kind of feels relieving.

That's some gnar jank, that is. I dig it.

Thanks. It was pretty easy. The hardest part is actually getting the strap out.
I couldn't get good access to the strap in that car without going through a bunch of shit that I was unwilling to do, so I just pulled it as tight as possible, found the longest part and went at it with a boxcutter; same with the buckle-end of the strap. It turned out to be juuuuuuust the right length. Just cut it as long as possible since it's better to have too much than not enough. Actually, I'm 6'7" and it reaches my waist so I'm sure it will prolly be enough.
So then I went up to the arts and crafts store and found a little sheet of synthetic leather...I don't remember the exact price but it wasn't much. I cut it into a basic...trapezoidal...oval...strap end form?
Just make sure the shape is mirrored.
And from there it was super simple sewing technique. I'd never sewn anything before but it's a few stitches to hold everything together and a knot to tie it off, anybody can do that no problem! I don't think the actual thread used matters; there was just some black thread in the house. Feels sturdy to me.
I tried to rip it apart after assembly and it ain't happening

It may not be as padded as a Couch brand strap, but it is my seatbelt. If you had two of them you could even make a more comfy adjustable strap. I'm thinking of slicing out some seatbelts at the wrecking yard next time...

That's got to sound pretty original. Throaty dunc precision with TWO mudpuckers... Rad concept, perhaps a balancing switch between them would be cool if You feel like figuring that out, perhaps. THAT'd make a good replacement for a typical lame ass low pass tone knob (the best reason for keeping such a tone knob is the TGD squeals anyway).

But... what did You do with the MM pup? Was it too many punky treblz? Just wonder since MM pups has been my weapon of choice for so many years but, it is, of course, a matter of taste.

Well, there are still lots of controls to fuck with even without it, I guess.
I didn't trash the MM and I don't hate it or anything. I just got a good deal on the 2 mudbuckers and wanted to try 'em out. I did appreciate how the MM wasn't as annoyingly nasally as a Jazz bridge pickup. If I put it in again though I think it's going to be with a preamp -- mine was passive. It sounded good but wasn't THAT big a departure from the J style pickup; maybe it was that particular pickup

Also, my other two basses already have J pickups, so I wanted something manly to counter it!
