Love the clips of what this can do, and if I sold off a glitch pedal and a pog this could probably replace those And I'd have a blast, but still, $450 is really steep for one box, especially when I can't combine the effects like with separate boxes, and I can cop some similar sounds with synths. I could see splurging at 20% off but not full retail. Guess I'll be waiting a year for some used ones at a decent rate. This upward price trend for effects is brutal and funny considering a lot of good synths are becoming more affordable.

$harkToootth wrote:Just curious, what would you get? I am not, and never again will be, on the market for a synth. Kind of curious what people who are really into gear are into.
I'm currently using a Prophet~6 and a Sub-37. Those are my two preferred synths, but I also have a mixture of modules and digital keyboards.
My next synth will likely be a Subsequent 37 CV or a REV2 (no purging, just adding on). I've given some thought to the Sledge 2.0, since it's multi-timbral and has a good knob-to-function ratio. It's essentially a Waldorf (uses many of the same wavetables and features). The OB-6 is quite appealing to me, but I need to pay some other stuff off, before possibly picking one up at the end of the year.
popvulture wrote:Yeah those "new" Prophet REV2s are pretty appealing at 1500 bux. From what I gather they're really just renamed Prophet 08s with maybe a few tweaks and a price reduction? I always liked those.
There's some pretty significant improvements beyond the reduced price. These were about $1800 at the end of 2016, now they're $1500 with far more features. The voice cards are the same, but it's been expanded and retooled in several areas.
1) better keyboard
2) if you buy/upgrade to 16 voices, split/stack function becomes a real game changer
3) added the effects found in the OB-6/P~6. you can also split the FX (so delay on one bank, RM/reverb on another layer)
4) modulation matrix has been doubled (you can also do separate routing on each layer), which means far more variety in total sounds available
5) upgraded display screen
6) user memory has been quadrupled (128 user, 128 factory has become 512/512...so 256 is now 1,024 total)
7) added polyphonic step-sequencing (previously only had gated). you can play different sequences on separate layers
8) no wall-wart, now has a 3-prong modular cable

Well KNOBS did his demo. Great job per usual. Truly an auteur.

No damn it.

I had to sell my Dream Sequence again, so I'll have to wait a while to try that!
The Infinite Jets is rad as fuck. I need some time with it to really see if it's something I'll use long term though.

I feel like the HOLD of the Dream Sequence gets close enough to being useful enough on its own..spesh with the price tags on either of them. YEESH.
If I had the cash I would tots invest. But then I'd wanna rehouse it into somethin kooky too

I did and then I realized I didn't need the Dream Sequence anymore bc the IJ does "dreamy" better than DS does. Sold it and havent missed it. I feel like I could play out with just IJ if need be. DS, I just liked the HOLD button

See I used the hold button very sparingly on the Dream Sequence but could see myself using it on the Infinite Jets way more. The manual mode is fucking cool as shit because you can hold two different notes. The only thing that sucks it seems a bit finicky. I'm going to try it with a different supply, but side A does not hold as well as side b for me. We shall see. Also, I wish you could sweep the hold, but you can't. Once you sweep the expression it disappears.
It's a fucking crazy pedal though.
I love everything they are doing.
I do with this had midi for presets though.

That's weird - I'm definitely not experiencing that. The manual mode rules.

Is anyone else noticing this (apparent) bug -
When you put the lfo sweep on repeat and then turn the lfo shape knob, it acts funny. Normally, the sample will keep playing and the pattern will track the shape knob. But sometimes the sample will cut off when the shape knob reaches certain settings. For example if I capture the sample in Sawtooth it will cut off when the lfo shape knob is turned to the square wave shape. But if I capture the sample in most other shape settings I can cycle through any of the other shapes and the sample will keep playing.

Yes, mine also cuts off, but I hadn't noticed if it was different wave forms. Basically if I capture something and turn a knob other than the gain or mix, the signal cuts all together and drops the loop. The Dream Sequence did not do that. I could cycle through anything with that bitch. I was wondering if it was a flaw in the design or what the deal is.

My Infinite Jets loves creating sustain from the line noise coming from my shitty guitar...I don't dislike it...it also creates swells from it...
