Great prices. We need more builders who can make a living providing affordable high quality gear.
Agreed.

Anyone find out what the pre-amp in the Mother is based on? I really hope not Fender, the Fender tone stack drove me away from a Verellen Meatsmoke.

From a email with the builder about the mother amp.
The amp's inspired by the early 70's Hiwatt DR201. All the Hiwatts from that era had the same "All Purpose Preamp" that was known for being great for guitar, bass, or keyboards. One additional tone-shaping feature is the "Depth" control, which is similar to the depth or FAC controls found on vintage Matamps and Oranges, which gives great control of the amps overall bass response before fine-tuning with the EQ section. This features also adds to the amp's flexibility for either bass or guitar.

In addition to the classic Hiwatt sound in the "Normal" input, the amp's "Overdrive" input goes from clean, to crunch, to heavy overdrive, and can be finely tuned with both the Drive and Gain controls. The circuit is of my own design, and has also been tuned for both guitar and bass overdrive.
So I don't know if its really based off of anything.

It's based on the life and times of Glenn Danzig.

Haha, besides this, pretty much what was quoted in a few posts up. Based of the 70's Hiwatt DR201 (perhaps most famously used on "In Utereo"). I Added a MATAMP style Depth control, and "hot-rodded" OD input which adds an additional 2 gain stages and "Drive" control. That's a simplification of course, but the gist of the amp's voice. It has the Hiwatt style tonestack, which is very versatile and musical. I much prefer it to the Ampeg style.

I attached all the samples I sent Ian if anyone is interested. I know they are not the best, but they are just mic'd from a distance, and I did them pretty spontaneously to give Ian a better idea of the amp's range . Fortunately, no one has said it "sounded weak" standing in front of it :)

I personally think the Rickenbacker OD samples sound better, and the clean samples provide some context. All these samples were with the EQ pretty much flat, and there is a lot range from there - I was just trying to get a few typical middle of the road sounds.

Thanks for all the support!

Alex

Dude, your tone is good enough as it is. This amp and cab will be too awesome. You may actually kill people.

Awesome.

More awesome that the builder is here talking shop openly. Between you and Dunwichnick, we've got a whole pile of amp knowledge.

Glorious.

The cab is not finished yet though it will be soon. The head and cab are 28" wide. The cabs is a ported 2x15 with eminence kappa speakers. I forget how tall and deep it is but its somewhere in between a 4x12 and fridge.
