Yep, that's a good price for a great pedal. It gets close to Barracuda, but it does its own thing. Other pedals can get you closer I think, but there are so many good sounds in a BF-2 you should have one anyway.

SHit, I wasn't that sure about the pedal and let it pass... Which one would you recommend for Barracuda? I know, there is the toadworks model, but it's too pricey...

But I've got a CE-3 now, which is instant 80s hard rock :omg:

I actually really like the EVH MXR flanger. Don't own one, but it's nice and can get fairly Barracuda. And it has an "instant Van Halen" button :D
But I wouldn't ever get rid of the BF-2. The bass version is also awesome. BF-2B. It's a bit more subtle, and maybe can do Barracuda better.

I just finally got around to getting a HM-2. Oh my god, I don't think it will ever leave my board, seriously. I was surprised at how awesome it is at doom-ier tones, I was expecting like death metal saw kinda tones which it had but second knob maxed and third knob minimum (cant remember which is which, it gets this awesome bassy electric wizard sounds). Now I know why they are so popular. I should have none after seeing one on Wata's board. Anyway I love boss pedals.

I have a BF-2 that I got for xmas in 98.
fucking used it on one song I think. ever.
now it's back out, making jet plane sounds and ugly movements of frequencies...
yeh, Im keeping it.

I luv my boss pedals man. But these days when I want something new/different...I kinda pass on them.

im toying with the idea of putting together a boss only board...

so far i have a HM-2 and a FZ-2
im would love to get hold of a DC-2 Dimension Chorus (but not for a stupid price)
and im eyeing a RE-20 space echo...(still counts as a "2 series?")

I couldn't live without my HM-2. It just grinds in a way that I've never gotten from another distortion.

Because of that the RE-20 gives some (bad) distortion on my tone (and the peak led always blinking). Anyone know a trick to solve this? I hate it when a good pedal can't handle hot signals.

Turn down the input volume(the rightmost knob). Then adjust your amp's gain to compensate.
