Facebook Event page in its invancy

We need to make more people admin on this so more people can be invited. Doesn't ilf have a Facebook page as well that they can be admin and invite some folks

You don't have to be an admin to invite people. You just have to be "attending"

We need to start putting together flyers and getting the word out there.

Also, we need to decide on a cover. What makes the trip worthwhile for the bands involved? The venue would like a cut of $50 of the door money. Not sure how many people to expect, but the Borg Ward and the Milwaukee bands come with their own crowds of some size. Thoughts?

How far are most people coming from? I have booked, been booked on, and have been to many shows at the Borg Ward. In my opinion, I don't think the local (i.e. Milwaukee area bands) should be taking a cut of the door. I think the door money should just be reserved for out-of-town/touring bands that have to drive some distance. Bands can sell merch to make up whatever money they may miss out on from the door, as in my experience Milwaukee is full of people who will buy merch if your band doesn't suck and it's not at a ridiculous price point (I'm sorry, but any more than $10 for your average t-shirt is HIGHWAY ROBBERY).

I would be comfortable in expecting at least 30 folks at this shindig if it's promoted well enough, maybe even more depending what else is going on that weekend and such. The largest crowd I've ever seen at the Borg Ward was 100 people for the Rotten Sound (Finnish grind metal) show a few years back. I think even Torche only drew like 60-70 people when they played there last year (Or was it late 2009? Memory escapes me...). The annual Milwaukee Noise Fest also draws between about 40 and 60 kids. I have an in at the Onion, so if you want I can try to get them to do a feature on the show, which should help bring in some extra heads. I've already started doing some promotion on the Northless page, so I fully expect at least some of our crowd to be there.

To be honest, I wouldn't charge more than $8 for this. $5 is too little. $10 is kinda steep for bands that don't have guarantees or use booking agents and stuff (and the Borg rarely deals with those types anyway), especially if we're talking about a fair chunk of local/local-ish bands.

Hope this helps! I think this show is going to rule! :!!!:

2 things:

1. We're about 400 miles away, but we're playing a few shows up (and hopefully down). Again, any help with this would be great. Right now, we're playing Eau Claire Thursday and Madison Friday, but even those aren't confirmed. We really want to play Chicago because we have friends there. A place to crash in Milwaukee will also be needed by us and others.

2. $8 sounds fine. Could we consider 2 price points? Maybe less if you come early, or maybe a Special Edition ticket that gets you a merch sampler and/or in a drawing for a pedal? Or maybe everyone pays 8, but you get a CD featuring every band? I dunno... thoughts?

1. $8-10 doesn't feel like highway robbery to the kids that come out to see the show, so I approve that.

2. What if every $8 ticket got you a download code for digital versions of all the music? You guys wouldn't even have to release a whole album of just your music. Instead, we could make a "ILFest Sampler"-type download of various artists.

3. I will probably come see you guys in Madison, since I live here in Madison now (and miss Milwaukee.) Will definitely buy you guys a round afterwards.

Do we have promotions going in the area?

I've already noticed a couple things that need to be fixed out this.

I haven't started any promotion in Milwaukee since I don't live there anymore.. kind of hoping someone steps up to promote it.
