Fucking hell, I just got to the Miranda Sings episode of Comedians in Cars and I almost lost it. That was the most annoying character I have ever heard. How the fuck does she have a successful YouTube channel?!

Who's started
Tales from the Loop? Until this week, I had no idea that a project inspired by Simon Stålenhag's work was debuting.
It's entertaining so far. The score was really strong for E1. For me, it's rare to enjoy a score that isn't more synth-driven.
There are several Q&A's with the show's developer emerging. (spoilers possible?)

Overall, the current sci-fi content for streaming is stronger than usual.

So I finally decided to watch The Runaways... I read the comics way back when. It was a good story, at least the first arc...
The show isn't bad, in a vacuum. But it follows the trend of "we need to change a couple details for mainstream appeal" and I get really tired of it. If they think there's enough appeal in the first place, I don't know why there is the need to dumb the story down.... Runaways, Walking Dead, Preacher, The Boys.... Each story was significantly more interesting as it was and the detail changes didn't improve the story at all... Maybe it's just the inner nerd, but the Walking Dead seems to be the only one that succeeded in spite of itself (although I hope they take a cue from the comic and just abruptly end it).

Just finished Tales From The Loop. Best show I've seen in a long time, it really struck a chord with me. Nice to see sci-fi that retains a believable human element and isn't just dumb fan service spectacle (like Picard).

Agree. I read a lot of complaints that it wasn't "sci-fi" enough, but clearly those people never understood what Stalenhag was trying to convey in his books to begin with.
Anyway, best sci-fi show since Dark.

Interesting! Shame it's on Amazon, stupid proliferation of different streaming services with good shows.

+1
It sucks, I really wanted to watch it too but if it's not on Netflix I have to do the old infinite web search to find a low quality streaming etc etc and honestly I don't even want to lose all that time for a TV show, I'm not a student anymore.

Just a heads up, they're technically unrelated. Totally different stories.
That being said, I have all of his books and the RPG manuals just because I love the art so much.

Oh I don't care at all. I just assumed that if one is good the other might also be good

Medical Police. Daybreak. are what I've been watching. I'm one of those people that pretty much watches one episode per week though. The rest of my family has other stuff to watch, like I'm not gonna cringe through the Office again.

started the bbc war of worlds last night. def not faithful to the source material, but also far superior to the cruise/spielberg mess. it's included in the current epix free trial if you've got prime.
terminator: sarah connor chronicles is my current excercise viewing. pretty bad. the movies have done so many retcons i don't even remember how this fits in. but the femme terminator reminds my prom date. and there's shirley manson. put it in the so bad it's still bad column.
