Figures some clickbait bullshit exists where a salty woman asserts YES ITS SEXISM!

No complaints about Sade's voice. Or Miki Berenyi, Trish Keenan
Upspeak and vocal fry are [de?]evolutions of throwback 1980s
nescient valley girl cadence through pop culture aping and games of telephone.
It went from a regional quirk to a national nuisance through cultural appropriation
By rule, the voices of women have a naturally higher register than those of men, which is why complaints of shrillness don't typically extend to men. Duh.
Men instead tend to be bellowing gasbag blowhards. People generally don't want to hear whiners and loud-talkers, period. I know I don't. Loud women hurt my ears in ways loud men do not. Maybe it's just how my hearing is notched.
Slurring mumblers [and hushed sweater voice, good call DoS] are bad but projected whiny vocal tone is the absolute worst. However I also can do without people who manage to sound whiny in text, like
that professor of linguistics.

Five seconds of NPR makes me want to kill people, imagine what it's like spending ~8 hours listening to that.
Lucky. I have The Weather Channel on most of my work day.

Despite my affinity for Sade...both of those options sound better than the "smooth jazz" radio station I had to endure for 10+ hour days (on my feet) working in the hardware store.

Who plays "smooth jazz" in a hardware store?
"Smooth jazz" is probably the most un-hardware music ever.

The major difference I see between these two parties is that one thinks that government can help people,
while the other seeks to get elected to prove that government can't and won't do anything except allow
the rich to get richer.
While such vast quantities of money are being funneled into politics it is hard to get laws that work for
the majority of people, but the push towards "privatization" is an attempt to mine resources from all
public institutions.
The "housing bubble" was the result of a concerted (and mostly successful) attempt for Wall Street to
gain access to and plunder the value that people had locked away in their houses. What is "conservative"
about seeking to do that for Social Security, natural resources including water, and national infrastructure?
Do professors of linguistics get pedantic and squirrelly with forced arguments? Sure. But the Republicans
have been waging a war against education for decades. The Republicans have been mining a streak of
anti-intellectualism in the US to great effect. The idea that news media is politically biased was crafted by
Roger Ailes and his Fox experiment so that Republicans could "win" arguments by refuting facts and statistics
with "feelings".
Newt Gingrich recently said as much.

As for Trump... I've hired his Birther private investigators and they've provided documents that prove
that Donald Trump's presidential campaign is bankrolled by a SuperPAC funded through a domestic shell company
by Russia. Trump's recent "joke" was actually an example of him illegally coordinating with his SuperPac overlords
via "sarcasm".
Here is the first surveillance footage that Trump's Birther P.I.s acquired.

You're preaching to the choir. It was an olde-tyme hardware store too. In an affluent area. Sawdust on floor, shelves packed to the ceiling, staff who actually should have been charging consulting fees during the rise of DIY cable shows in the early 00s. Staff of 4-5 people, each one servicing a hundred
of customers per day. Toward the end of my stint, the owner started implementing collared/polo shirt uniform requirements. Cheap ones...and this store net 800k/year. I don't miss it, though I do miss the employee discount. So does my old man
FWIW apparently it had/still has high employee turnaround, most don't make it 2 months. I made it a week shy of 6 before getting fired for tardiness twice in a week (this was 2003, the summer of the blackout) and power was still screwy into September. Nevermind the fact I was regularly first to arrive, even voluntarily stopping at the bagel shop across the street for coffee & treats for the squad. They were not happy to see me go but I had other issues with the job...like being paid $120 less/week for the same work as another employee who signed on after me. Nevermind the fact he was 20 years older, his experience was in another field entirely. We did the same job & I had to help train the fella. Life aint fair, folks. It isn't all sexism and racism's fault.
Later, in reflection I realized it was an excuse to get me out the door before the 6 month activation of benefits. That's how shit works in the real world.

Yea, its a travesty that a place like that isn't playing Tony Rice and other "new-grass" acoustic guitar music.
I'm actually jealous of "smooth jazz" since my place plays "jackhammer" and "concrete saw" all day long.

Or at least Bluegrass covers of Op Ivy songs:

I wanted to touch on the Donald Trump speaking to Russia thing. I don't think it's treason or even close. He was obviously being sarcastic and even if he wasn't, fuck Hillary. I'm all for exposing that ice queen for what people still can't see because they have their blinders on. Do I like Trump? No. Fuck no. But he has a good point. Please do release them Russia! I hope they do hack our shit and get it out there.
The funny thing to me is that is let's say Anonymous were to be asked to hack it or even if they did it themselves, people would be grateful and all happy about the shit. It's ok for them to commit crimes because they are a vigilante group of nerds.
I love American double standards.

So, jwar, how do you feel about the WikiLeaks vs. Snowden Twitter beef?

I'm sure you will be MORE than satisfied by the things leaked between now and November. Don't worry. We will be ready to throw both Donald and Hillary in jail even more than we are now.
I'm confident that by the time we are able to cast a vote, nobody will be able to live with themselves for voting either direction. That's how we roll here.

Heh Chank, Worked quite a few jobs to get my street education. Min wage-tier and unskilled labor which afforded me the opportunity to people watch different classes of individual. The best stories are reserved for offline chitchat. Also the ones which don't translate well in writing.
Tfw mundane circumstance/settings with plenty of "had to be there" moments

Anyway...
Previous to hardware I worked in a book & record store (which no longer stocked records). Another Mom & Pop operation. They played 96.3 or w/e NYC market classical music station. That's definitely the best option for a book store. And probably every other place, for music. Other than WBGO type jazz. I certainly don't want to hear contemporary pop tunes while shopping. Or working

I think Snowden is a hypocrite. They both did essentially the same thing but with different methods. I'm not sure why Snowden is up in arms about defending the Clinton's unless he's looking for amnesty or has been promised it in exchange for something.
But really, who the fuck is he to say shit? He fled to Russia after doing the exact same type of shit.
