I spent some time on the UG forums reading up on practicing and technique after your suggestion, and I've come to the conclusion that UG people are obsessed with Paul Gilbert. (I've got Racer X and his solo stuff and I think it's cool but overrated?

And not something I'd listen to very frequently.)
That said, I'm frustrated that my accuracy and speed in playing aren't going up. Stuck playing perfectly at 58bpm on an exercise the author says to practice up to 120bpm. I'm not learning to "play along" to anything with these exercises, too, and I've been neglecting my Blues You Can Use book. Gah damnit I'm fail.
This may help. Something I put together a while ago to help navigate away from the crap on UG:
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/sh ... st237699019 parts collection of technique exercises and other info, 1 part argument about the technical definition of legato.
Haven't updated it in mad long but should still be pretty good.

I actually have had that bookmarked for a long time!

And noticed your recommendation of Guitar Aerobics at the bottom - that's what I'm currently working through for technique.
I think that the problem more often than not is that I don't feel like I'm improving, even if all this practice is helping.

Do you play with a band? The biggest improvements you will have will be from playing with a group of people, and learning complete songs (not just parts as we guitarists tend to do). Exercises I think are more to tighten up the gaps, or to learn specific techniques that you can't learn otherwise (sweeping, tapping, etc.)

Nope, I don't play with anyone else. Trying to rectify that situation, though!

Have you filed a claim? Banks tend to be good about getting your money back, the downside is that it usually takes 1-2 months. They may give you a partial credit though while it's being resolved.

Try a sell and buyback with somebody? Sell a pedal with the condition that you'd be buying it back in a month or something. Kinda a loan with collateral. I've seen one or two people do it on here. I'd do it but I'm broke too until next payday.

Oh great. This is the message i recieved today.
"this may caused you a not too comfortable moment, but as you already know, for us is not permitted to execute a reimbursement, the internal and external policies indicate and estates so and other parameters, we can solve this problem as the next way. stopping billing cycles, closing accounts and shut all the sessions down. and this procedure will assure that you will never be suddenly charge or a similar issue. you credit card won't be unexpected hit again for an unknown withdraws. Does your bank give you a reserve line of credit you can tap into in emergencies? Or could you go apply for a reserve line of credit or a small loan to cover this month, knowing you'll pay it off quickly?

They're making a new Way Of The Samurai game and it's only coming out on PS3.
I wouldn't have a problem with this if PSN hadn't been rape hacked. I was just about to finally buy a PS3 when that happened.
