I'm unsure if it's wired any different to my previous amps or if i'm just retarded I think it has a different feel to the previous ones though. My sovtek had way too much bass and my vox didn't respond much so maybe that's it. It like cuts the band out as it goes left and will make no sounds if i have them all down. Does that mean i bypass the tone circuit if i have them all the way up ? The seller told me something like this but i'm unsure if that makes any sense or if he meant 12 oclock. So confused over guitar basics

.
What orange you using homeslice?
If it's an oldschool one, it might have the Baxandall EQ tone stack (I know mine does, and it took me a minute to get a grasp on the situation). If that's the case, it's a two band EQ stack with highs and lows, and to add mids you subtract low and highs. Vice Versa if you want to scoop them.
Scooped mids=Bass & Trebz cranked.
Boosted Mids=Bass & Trebz at zero.
And flat isn't always flat, obviously.

well, i did say JUST MY OPINION. and also put it in Confessions, acknowledging my out-of-stepness with the general approach favored by many towards bass today. it's just what i like. the first time i played a bass, what made me happy was hitting a low G and feeling my whole chest cavity resonate to that deep, deep frequency, and that's still what i like best.
i also believe in arranging stuff so there's room for deeper bass to stand out without being overwhelmed. you can write the parts in different ranges, you can mash the EQ like Kevin Shields, etc. but that's just me. i grew up on soul music, so i'm all about the booty bass.

But, uh, what head you got there?
I noticed the Orange/Sovtek back to back, and I'm a man after that very same gear ownership.
Just think: We can drink internet mai thais and watch dubkitty get e-hit on by strange men in hawaiian shirts.

Yeah, that's why I said "it's cool" and "different strokes". I wasn't trying to slag on ya. It is possible to completely disagree with someone and not want to bite their head off.

i didn't take it as slagging...i was just expounding. reading back, it does come off as defensive, though. i'm just really into thinking about bass and talking about bass right now since i finally have a bass i really like and i'm playing more as a result. if i can get into a bass amp soon i'll really be happy. my gf, cats, and neighbors may not agree, but fuck 'em for six hours a week.

Finally figured it had too much bass and mids for a cleaner rockish tone kinda. Went back to cranking the master all the way then moving the gain up to 2-3 think i'm happier running it that way and adjusting my volume knobs on guitar. For more distorted tones the master is great but as 2.5-5 is pretty gainy

. I feel like the sovtek needed pedals to sound good while this i could probably run straight into with maybe a boost or something.
Need to still tweak all my fuzz but it is less thick sounding now which is good. I liked how much simpler setting the sovtek was i think it might have covered slightly more ground as well but this one gets a bunch cleaner and i'm less worried about it breaking down. I should of seen how sovtek sounded with new tubes as i totally never changed those but too late. I traded up almost twice in resale value in sovtek to orange sooooo.

IMO/IMO the Sovtek is darker and responds to pedals better than the Orange, but unless you're really into tube rolling changing tubes doesn't make much of a difference.
Not a fan of master volume, though, I've got to say. Good on you for keeping the master cranked.

While dubstep-oriented pedals could lead to some interesting non-shit uses...
Even though I hate dubstep...it's worse when played by guitars.
It's just dubstep. I think playing the electronicy music on guitar is alright. It's just my irrational hatred of dubstep. Let's see how many times I can say "dubstep".
maybe i'll catch some flak for that but i don't give a fuuuuuuck
It's like I respect the wackiness of the Dubscope and don't want to piss on the Dub Step before it comes out, but AUUUGHHHH DUBSTEP
And why am I even bitching about it? I've already said it before. Why don't I just shut the fuck up about dubstep? It's not cool to shit on music like that.
I don't know.
I have to be against it.
Maybe I just need something to bitch about that I can directly control by not listening to it.

it's all right. it's the 21st century. we're killing that 20th-century political correctness thing. it's OK to dislike things again.

Don't really have a problem with dubstep. Just find it to be one of those genres where all the music blurs together. Blandy bland, it's got no style.
That is, I enjoy hearing it, I just don't give a shit as to who it is or pursue the music at all.

to be honest, i find dubstep to be more of a running joke than a genre of music

I hate breaking in new shoes, especially slip-ons.
I like my shoes broke and dirty. The clean and shiny shoe look has never appealed to me.

i haven't bought a new pair of shoes in two or three years. i never wear them out any more, because all i do is go from the house to the car to wherever i'm going back to the car to the house again.

To be honest I'm not even sure what dubstep is?

When people talk about it, I always picture songs like "(Feelin' so fly) Like a G6" but I'm not sure that's dubstep
