the idea of live-sampling guitar parts then sequencing/timestretching them seems like it would be a cool way to perform.
Hold on to your horses. Learn the MD first. The Octatrack is dense, it is very challenging to learn. It's manual seems like it is speaking another language (to trig the triggerless trig,etc.).
If I had unlimited time for music, I would still own an Octatrack but I would rather make some music instead of cussing, throwing the manual and going to elektronauts to try and figure out how to do something that seems like it should be simple. The Octatrack is super powerful but not very user friendly IME.
Thanks! I'm not definitely not gonna dive right into that until i know for sure the MD will be a staple for me, but it seems like an interesting direction to go. I haven't even learned my SP404SX properly so i'd be in way over my head if i got one now

The general consensus on elektronauts seemed to be that the MD was the better standalone unit and more user friendly/easy to improv on whilst the OT was less fun on its own but very powerful paired with other elektron units if you can work out how to use it properly. My fascination with sampling only really extends to being able to stretch and dice samples to turn them into other things so the SP404SX hasn't been loved much since I got it.

i actually really like that too, and i almost never see novel body shapes that i like at all, and i'm actually usually not really into offsets (i know, shoot me). but that's a pretty classy look. it's like a tele bred with a les paul and the spawn was offset. i think it's got just enough of that les paul feel to get me interested. i would like it much better if it had a three to a side headstock though.

I like this a lot!
3 to a side would be an improvement.

I think they pretty extensively use Korina and I don't think they're building in the USA anymore. Not totally sure though.

You could always look for a used, older Reverend if that's really what you're wanting.
They've used different body woods in the past and they did at one time build their guitars in the USA.

I thought they did both? Cheaper ones made overseas but set up/assembled here and then a nicer line all done here?
