So I watched a few demos and got confused and frustrated confirming that the Habit is probably not for me.
Then I watched this video manual and now I kind of want one. It seems surprisingly straight forward now that I actually understand what's going on.
I still wish Chase Bliss offered larger pedals with more immediate control and stereo I/O, but this one seems pretty interesting either way

i think it's an interesting pedal
i don't really want to go down a rabbit hole with this; but i'm not sure i'm understanding the various claims of novelty/uniqueness

is it the buffer length? modifiers? something else?
i'll maintain some interest in listening to some music further down the road, once these release day demos are in the rear-view and the pedal has been in the hands of some folks who use it in the flow of their music rather than trying to show off its features (which, i get why these exist, i just don't like them).
others may differ (it's nice to be excited about new stuff)
i'm wearin' my Slow Man's tho

New delay options are very strong this year and I have some gas for pretty much all of them. I think I'm going to end up buying either a DL4 MK2, RE2 or 202, or a Habit, but I'm going to sell some things first. So I guess I'll see what's in stock in a few months and if I still fell the same for them then

(probably means I'm not getting a Habit, they'll be out of stock everywhere I'm sure)

A pedal built on the principle of the “jerk store” episode of Seinfeld. Or, for the more sophisticated:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/L'esprit_de_l'escalier
I’ll listen to the demos. But I have a feeling that indulging my own omphalos skepsis is not a great use of $400–I do that fine already.

I'm still trying to figure what to call the perfect response that never comes......

This?
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/de ... itar-pedal
Edit: although, that wouldn't really be the "perfect" response, but there's a joke in here somewhere

i have to agree, i wish chase bliss put something like this in a larger enclosure. the "spread" control really demands stereo, i want to hear that secondary delay tap from a second output!
i thought the "dropout" thing was pretty cool, until i remembered it's just tremolo

but i guess few pedals offer random tremolo, let alone delays, so that's something new.

ok - so something i didn't realize at first; the buffer and the delay operate separately. not sure that's a gamechanger (i'm sure there are plenty of folks already running a sample buffer's contents through an outboard delay or reverb or what have you, self included) but it does make the workings of this pedal more explicably interesting to me....

habit seems like an expansion of the ehx 16s concept/flow to me. 60s of delay plus a 3 minute tape loop. At least that’s how I expect to use it.
Will be my first CB experience though, could be too fiddly for me. Dip switches are a turn off lol

Habit looks pretty cool for the 3-min loop that can be resampled.
But... I wonder how closely I could get to these sounds just using pedals I already have?

With all the tape echo talk, I was a bit sad that one of my favourite part of the 301/501s wasn't getting any love, that sound on sound looping. Habit looks fun.
Has any other pedal ever been so squarely aimed at gassed up youtube watching bedroom players? (not a criticism! haha) Truly a product of the pandemic.

You'd think they would have added SOS looper functions on the RE-202, if only to win over Volante/El Capistan users.
