Briefly skimmed the thread and believe all the "anti-semitic" (… the correct spelling. That's what I was face palming. You'd think the mod'd be able to spell it.) comments had been deleted. So, there's now no way of actually telling what was said. (One of the many things I hate about TGP.)

"Anti-semitic" did confuse me, and for a second I honestly thought it was locked for disagreements about semantics or semiotics.

Well, the root of "anti-semitic" is "Semite". That's how I remember it.

I was banned for a week because I said "Dude we just MAGA'd so hard!" in the context of buying American made pedals at market value instead of bitching about how much certain pedal companies' pedals cost.

Apparently using this term was too political. Interestingly, although I identify as liberal, even my liberal friends were offended. I didn't realize that MAGA had gotten so out of hand that it is a legit offensive term now. To me it's a joke. Nothing's funnier than a picture of Tom Brady with his MAGA hat on.

But I grew up watching Mel Brooks movies. Is our collective sense of humor diminishing? Or am I just some sort of quasi-bigot that thinks making fun of "serious issues" is fair game and good for the soul?

I've had posts removed there that I didn't think were political at all. Things I look at more in a cultural light other people see politics in.

Anything even remotely related to politics is subject to scrutiny by mods there. The problem is that the real world doesn't divide itself into such neat classes of categorization. Everything is somehow connected. I sometimes don't understand how people can compartmentalize things like that.

I've seen people make fun of much more serious issues on TGP without consequence. People choose to get offended selectively. Mods won't act unless someone complains. So, someone got offended and complained. Obviously, mods anywhere are gonna be biased one way or another. It's a thankless task either way.
