That's a fair description when you've tapped in a tempo using quarter notes, but if you set the tempo to longer tap times (up to 2.54 seconds ~24 BPM) you can moved beyond that type of sound pretty quickly. Also, try controlling the stutter with the expression pedal, lots of interesting stuff to be had there as well.

I haven't tried that one yet. Maybe Disaster Area can chime in (they have an Ottobit Jr., so they would know for sure). The DMC-4 and DMC-3 definitely work.

Aaannnddd it turns out it was user error. Meris have been really nice and quick to help. They even paid for the shipping even though I offered to reimburse them and it was my mistake!

Sorry Meris, my mistake! Thank you!

And the string of daily humble continues.................

If it is an older one, it might work with some resistor changes, but I don't know for sure.

Disaster Area Amps is making an updated version of the Empress Midibox that works: http://www.disasterareaamps.com/shop/midibox
Thanks! Mine is the older version, jury is out then. I hope it can be made to work.

Definitely not. The Judder is totally different because its delay based and I don't think it does really any of the same things. The Charlie Foxtrot and Judder have a lot of overlap but the Foxtrot is easier to set up and get sounds. I have all three and wouldn't compare either the Charlie Foxtrot or the Judder to the Ottobit.

Dammit. No costs shall be recouped.

Please let us know how this goes. I want to go midi when my Ottobit Jr arrives (and use it with an inbound Empress Echo System), but the Disaster Area midi box doesn't seem to be available in the UK (without import charges), whereas the Empress midibox is...

Will do. I'm checking the details with Meris as well as Empress (I want to still be able to use the Midibox with Empress and Chase Bliss pedals) - it seems like replacing some resistors will do the trick though. I just want to find out if it's to be done for all four jacks or if I should only modify one of them for the Ottobit.

Thanks. I had thought from scanning the various manufacturers' sites (and I have zero expertise on the subject) that Meris and Empress used the same midi system, but that Chase Bliss was the one that was different and required resistor swapping.

I've also seen people mention resistor swaps for CBA. I've used mine with just a modified cable though and it works.

The cba modified boxes only change the trs to tsr internally instead of using the flip cable (with the empress midibox)
Idk about the new cba/ disaster midibox or faves. It tastes like disaster area was involved

For what it's worth, I emailed Disaster Area to ask them about midi for there larger boxes. I want to have control over 6 pedals and not just one, so for me the Faves wouldn't even make sense. I could recall a setting with a larger midi box. I may end up having to get two midi controllers and labeling them...that would be annoying, but I'd do it. I'd love to have a box that has bypass loops and midi, like Boss or Disaster Area. So hopefully the DA can do it as it's 300 dollars cheaper than the Boss.

A BOSS ES-5/8 and a Source Audio Reflex expression pedal is a great combo for a MIDI-heavy board ... yuuuge possibilities. :)

So integrated into my board and played some of my songs yesterday

a)This things is really great for building ambient interludes. I especially enjoyed looping something on the left, switching to the right, changing the bottom three knobs randomly and looping the same thing or an octave up or down. Sounded amazing, integrated really well with the other interlude sounds I've amassed and I'm probably going to overdo this for a little while

b)Looking forward to a manual too.

c)I kind of wish that the Bypass switch could be changed in General Settings to either turn on/off Stutter or all three bottom knobs. Since I use loop switchers, don't really need a Bypass switch.

Fun stuff :thumb:
