Never played a Deep Purple cover in my life, although thanks for exposing the snobbery I am talking about in this thread. From what I've heard of the various demos (and there just aren't any good ones), I'll stick with my venerable Boss GL-100s over any of the SS/BS dirt.
I'm just not hearing anything I *need* in it.

Was at the playground with my kid yesterday and there were a bunch of ex-sorority young moms there. One of them was pushing a little girl - maybe 2 or 3 years old I guess? - really high in the toddler swing and the kid was getting freaked out. The sororomom was teasing the little girl, like "what's the matter - are you a wussy?" And the little girl was yelling back "YES, I'M A WUSSY!"

As long as your real life discussion doesn't include arm wrestling I'm totally down. I'd win too because I'm totally right.
Boils down to language associated with traditional hetero male qualities being generally positive, and language related to traditionally female or non-hetero qualities often being derogatory. Which in and of itself doesn't have to be problematic, but taken as a whole really says a lot about how we collectively view anyone who isn't male and hetero. But these topics don't lend themselves to internet discussion. Clearly, Deep Purple and Boss pedals do, as the quality of this thread attests
