METZ were killer yet again. It was a church basement show and they had fancy mics attached to all the drums/cymbals, to the side of the guitar cab, etc. There was a dude that messed with em a little during the show a bit, too. I really hope they recorded that shit.... Also back at the mixer there was two boards of pedals all running through keymasters, and a little modular set up, which I believe was for some in between song noise. Mmmph.

Awesome! I saw them here in Stockholm last year, for the first time ever. I'm not that into noise rock but they were very cool live (and hey, it was a free show!). A lot of strobe though. My eyes were still flickering the morning after.

I'm listening back to The Silver Age, getting more and more stoked that Bob Mould will be in the area in May...

Daphni aka Caribou is going to be DJing for five hours at this fairly small club in a couple months. Stoked on that for sure.
& FLYING LOTUS ON FRIDAY AHHHHH. it kinda snuck up on me. My body is ready.

My bassist told me about these guys like two weeks ago, and said he saw them open for Nils Frahm. I had taken a PTO day from work that day and once I finished my first listen through their record I immediately walked up to the record store to buy it. They sound like what I imagine a jazz trio of machines would sound like. Doesn't sound human.

glad you dig them. That record quickly became one of my favorites.

Double post dgaf. Deantoni Parks just posted a video from NYC and I really really really really hope he's playing with FlyLo tonight, and if he is I suspect Thundercat will be there, too

July 13 fingers crossed

Behemoth, Abbath and Inquisition (and whatever remains of the shitty bust up of Entombed that has led to the formation of two lesser entities).
SUPER PUMPED!
If fucking vidret actually gets around to messaging me I'm going to drink some beers with him too.

For the last couple of years I have been dying to see Godspeed again after a particularly cathartic show a while ago in Louisville KY. So this current run of west coast shows has been a real boon for me. Skipped the Seattle shows because Neumos as a venue is just not up to the task of a Godspeed show, and instead went south for the two Portland shows at the Wonder Ballroom. Last night was night one and it was incredible. So fucking DENSE. ILF ampstacks littered the stage like the megaliths of stonehenge. They had at least one extra of every rock instrument (3xguitar players, 2xbassists, 2xdrummer, 1xviolinish) so that they can just blow the most thick sounds possible right through your organs. That kick drum sound may be the most brutal drum sound I have ever experienced. The very few moments that sounded almost like rock music were so muscular and alive that it really raises the question of what exactly they are capable of. Anything is my inkling. Really blew the cobwebs off the old nervous system. Can't wait to see what they do tonight.

I love METZ. Where was the show? I have to see them & Lightning Bolt. Maybe the Philharmonic if it weren't so damn expensive.

Lucky fucker! I thought about trying to make it but I don't think I'll be able to. The Boston show is smack-dab in the middle of my trip back up to the frozen wastes of Northern Quebec. A couple days earlier and I'd still be down south.
With Say Anything, you get one of two shows: "This is fucking awesome" and "Uh-oh, Max is super drunk." I've been lucky enough to have never gotten the latter LOL

Having two great SA shows under my belt, I kind of want to see a "Max is super drunk" show. My biggest fear is that the set will focus too much on Hebrews and Anarchy.
Either way, I finally get to see mwY for the first time.
