What you have is pretty close to where I was going to go if I stayed with Euro.
So Skully is sending me that format jumbler and when I get it, I will be sequencing the Serge!

Man tj that's pretty much the exact setup I've been planning to eventually buy at some point.
You should post some videos or sound bytes! I'd love to hear it
Sadly I doubt I'll be getting into it any time soon. Probably going to be a couple years now

I decided to get out of Euro because I was getting caught up in the over-abundance of choices. New shit would come out and I would just be like "I have to have that", repeat that process every other day.
I always liked/wanted/had a lot of modules based off of Buchla and Serge stuff. So when I was realizing that Euro wasn't going stop putting out awesome stuff, as well as some of the potential drawbacks like it can be a non-standardized platform and different build qualities plus just the size (cramped for knob wiggling) I looked at Buchla and Serge.
I almost went Buchla, I was looking at clones, telling myself that someday I would have more time to DIY more clones and was thinking that I could afford 3 Buchla modules, which isn't a lot but could do something.
Then a Serge trade was offered for my semi-modular (Ekdahl Polygamist!!! awesome) and I thought about all that I want from a modular. I was offered the Audio Interface, it's Res Eq is great, envelope follower. So I figured I could afford to buy the case and power and could get one more M-Class panel, so I thought if I got a Creature, I would have an actual useable Serge system. So glad I went this route, if I couldn't afford anymore modular gear ever this would be able to keep me happy for a long time.

Continued Reply:I had to haul ass to school.
The price of Buchla and Serge can be scary, especially without being able to try them before hand. What else that I find attractive about Serge is that it doesn't make a distinction between Audio and CV as well as how open-ended the modules are. I have so many possibilities with a small system. I posted earlier about all the different things each module can do, depending on how it is patched. Serge also is great for making feedback loops and there is a lot that can be done with those. Also, Serge straddles that East Coast and West Coast sound, it is all how I patch.
Also when I checked further into DIY Serge and DIY Buchla, I found that there is a certain amount of actual Serge Modules PCBs available and that even if I didn't solder them up myself, I could get a whole built Panel for around $1600 new. I think that is how I will expand my Serge next. There are certain circuits not available that way but there are a few really good choices of official Serge designed circuits available. I found Buchla clones to be higher priced than Serge licensed circuits in general.
I still think any modular type can be cool, it is all in the hands of the user.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Thanks for the reply Delta!
i like euro precisely because of the amazing range of options! i like being overwhelmed with choices and just spending hours sifting through them. i'm the same way with pedals. once i fill up this 6u and maybe a skiff, i plan to try something other than euro but i dont know what yet. either modcan, dotcom, motm, or maybe even serge if i have the scratch! looking forward to hearing your serge sequences

I'm sort of looking for the DC1 Drumcomputer but with a more tactile UI, basically like the top half of the Doepfer a155 module. I'm not experienced enough with electronics to come up with my own schematic and I'm having trouble finding anything online.
If anyone has a schem for something like this or could point me in the right direction i'd really appreciate it.
I asked this over at muffwiggler (http://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=104355) this morning and was wondering if anyone here has any idea?

Still trying to wrap my head around the Function, but I did some simple patches last night that kind of clarified some of it's capabilities to me.
Any suggestions on how to patch with it?

crazy pulses from somewhere > function > mmg = kinda later subotnick.
so: rise and fall to min, taper to lin (the line), cycle OFF,+ out to freq2 in
may or may not be appreciably different from using strike.

Worth a try! I'll try that out. It almost seems like since I've got the Function I've ONLY been patching the MMG and Function. My Trogotronic has been sitting to the side all lonely
