30.5" shortscale 'Series A' p-bass copy. Bought it locally for $40. Tuners were changed out before I got it. Added a Fender nickel-plated brass bridge, Nelson Superchief pickup and Rotosound flats. Covered the expanded route with a spare flying v guard. Zeni Geva sticker courtesy Eivind August's ilxmas gift. Perfect compliment to my Mustang, and having the superchief in both makes for a smooth transition in scale and in sound/dynamic range.

Hell yeah dude, that looks awesome.

thanks! Yeah, the V guard was a moment of inspiration, haha. The superchief with the rotosound flats is just perfect - it's so clean and wide-range/hi-fi but not limp or sterile like you get with a lot of other 'clean' pickups. You just hear all this potential, for lack of a better word.

are the superchiefs single or humbucker? my nelson pickups are really clear, can be pretty damn bright, which i'm into easy to EQ out but shitty to have to EQ in. I've thought about buying a set of flats. cool bass :thumb:

pretty sure they're the humbucker variant. Super clear, yeah. Ever since I tried them I've always used them on my basses. You lose some growl but I like the challenge of working around that sometimes, and I find that I can play for longer stretches without my hands getting as tired as they would with rounds.

Added humbucker to VM 70's. It's loud. Much louder than the single so I may switch that one out too.

Also just snagged this as a replacement for a bass I had that got stolen decades ago. My first 'real' bass -- Aria Pro II SB700.
Would love to get the original back, but I doubt that's ever going to happen.

Just picked up a 1980 Peavey T-40 last week. I used it on a gig on Sunday, and I'm loving it!
