My parents have no idea what they bought me this year
Dad just figured out that Moog Audio is the only place to sell modular gear around here, showed them pictures of my gear, and asked them what I'd want

My wife got me a DBA Reverbation Machine, which is pretty fucking awesome from my limited time with it so far. My folks gave me some cash, and I got a variety of socks, tools, etc. from my in-laws. Still waiting on my secret santa, so that'll be a nice bonus on top of an already great christmas.
Oh, and there's a used Larrivee acoustic in a local shop that I've been lusting after; if it's still there next time I stop in, I'm buying it.

Cool! What kind of stuff do you shoot? The GH cameras are supposed to be amazing for video.
Skateboarding, wildlife, the moon, whatever...artsy crap that will never get used

I'm still trying to learn the in and outs of this one. I used to shoot 35mm a bit, and recently got back into it, but wanted less limitation and the ability to get video. By using special lenses/filters/etc, and relying less on editing, I hope to maintain some of that analog kind of feel, while having the convenience of digital. I'd like to get into making short films in a more serious way. A friend I used to film with in highschool, who now does it for a living, recommended the Gh2 to me. I like it so far. My biggest complaint is the size (it's tiny), and as far as I know, you can't get battery grips for them.

That's cool. I never did any film though, so the digital workflow is what clicks with my brain. You can get amazing pics just shooting raw and then messing around in Lightroom... adjusting the shadows/highlights, tweaking the colors/toning, applying noise reduction and lens corrections, etc. My brother shoots film and a dslr, and he's got that purist film mentality (no editing, get the best pic possible in camera). I like to think of lightroom and photoshop as the effects pedals of photography though...
Haha most people dig mirrorless cameras because they're smaller!

Yea, I have seen some incredibly bland photos be completely turned around with Lightroom. I came across it when I was reading up on some old random manual lens...the guy was knocking the lens until he did some corrections later. I'll see if I can find it. I got to hold a gh4 recently at work, and it felt better, but had other things I didn't like as much. The gh2 is like 2/3rds the size of a t3i, and I have kind of big hands. Handles and tripods ftw.
