Part of the reason I've pulled the trigger on the PDF is because I know Chank and Horsey and others have said that it's a fucking awesome tone shaper after fuzz.

you play it on bass? I haven't seen any hype about it on bass yet
I've got a maestro mpf-1, which this is based on, and it works great with every thing. Guitar, bass, drum machines, synth, etc. I often put it in f/x loop on board and use it everywhere.

The mpf-1 loves fuzz and modulation too.

Sweet board!

I have such GAS for a PDF-1 but all I want it for is to sound like QOTSA and I do realise it's a bit dumb to get a pedal just for that.

I dont think it's any different than buying a Rat to sound like Sunn, or a Ram's Head to sound like Mascis

Yeah, but I'm not hugely into buying anything to sound like any one band, because I know I wouldn't use it enough for that and I'm not sure I'd find creative enough uses for it outside that context. :idk:

No issues with people who do it, but I'm just worried about sinking a lot of cash into something I only end up getting bored of and selling.

The PDF-1 seems to focus on the filter, costs more, and isn't as pedal board friendly. I'm going for the MF, as it seems to suit my needs better. If I listened to QOTSA at all then I'd prob get the PDF.
I still totally wanna MF Drive. I'm gonna pick one up when I can afford it.

Stone Deaf are coming out with two more distortiony based pedals (while still retaining the filtery aspect of 'em).

I think a problem might be their proprietary expression pedal.

(I don't think you're gonna be disappointed with the PDF-1, D.o.S.)
