Yay!
Also, Yay! I'm actually going to school this fall. I was a little worried I didn't get my transcripts in in time. Last year of college, here I come.

My new gig, I shit you not, is working on developing projects for a publishing company.
In other words, I get paid to help people figure out how to make money in a climate that is hostile to artists making money. Granted, it's literature, not music, but how goddamn synchronicity-filled is that?
So thanks, unownunown and snipelfritz, for cosmically helping me land the new gig. I owe both of you a beer.

so that did work out for you. good.
i installed the thumb rest on my Jazz Bass, and now that i added all the 60's/70's hardware (thumb rest, pickup cover, bridge cover) it finally feels like the bass i learned to play on and i'm comfortable and content. as soon as i started playing once the thumb rest was on i was all "YES" and have been playing "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" all night

were Leo Fender and his engineers fucking geniuses or what? look at a Fender bass...think of it from the viewpoint of someone from the 1950s. is there a single thing about that instrument that says "bass" to you, other than the fact that it has four strings? what a masterpiece of lateral thinking!

i've gotta say that just about anything is more fun that writing papers. surprising as it may seem, didactic internet posts aren't even that much fun for me...all that editing and crap. but having to go on for pages and pages? oy. people i know have been telling me to start a blog for years, but i expect that the having-to-spiel factor would turn into a chore. i don't want to have to read/listen to myself that much.

i was asked to contribute some production work on a new song for another local artist because he and his producer were impressed with what i did for his
remix project earlier this year. it's super last minute (as in, they are mixing/mastering immediately), and i'm not sure i can get something together that quickly, but still... it's encouraging.

The dude took like everyone's weird and kooky ideas about amplified bass and made a useable instrument out of it

Fuck you could take a 51 Pbass and still cut a gig in ANY style of music that you can use a 4 string bass guitar for... that is a lot of ground
I think a religion should be started around Leo Fender... and Bob Moog!

I just got home from church and, say what you will, but being in the Praise & Worship band has been an awesome experience so far

Still using a borrowed bass, but hope to remedy that soon :P

This is not trolling, I swear. Can you explain praise and worship bands to me? It just doesn't make sense to my brain. I mean, I've only been to catholic masses (back when I was a little kid), so I can't imagine using guitars and shit on church music.
