In other news, I'm listening to a lot of chiptune again, and contemplating getting another Pocket Piano.

I have always disregarded the pocket piano kinda, but lately looking at critter and guitari stuff makes mecery GASsy. Organelle seems amazing, kinda like a different type of OP-1, with the size and versatility.

Also really want a video synth by them at some point

Why not a Gameboy and lsdj? If you're going for the whole chip tune sound. They sell some really nice modded ones for less than a pocket piano. :idk:

You don't really need to mod a gameboy for LSDj. You can do the ProSound mod if you really want but it's not that necessary. I can't even remember if I did it on my gameboys or not...

man the organelle has been in the corner of my eye for awhile! kinda think u could get pretty close w/ a raspberry pi + pure data maybe tho right? save a few hundred bucks in the process.

backlit gameboy screen is pretty key tho & easy mod to do

I never modded mine and I had a blast with my gameboy (old grey brick) and nanoloop V.1 ... Did try it on my dad's SP and nanoloop sounded terrible. It was about the time that nanoloop started offering different versions. Seriously did a lot of fun stuff on it.

There was a guy(I'll find the page again if I can) that made a whole bunch of performance based gameboy Roms too...really useful things (like a little noise gen and a performance drum machine).

Never got into LSDj when I used it. Workflow and stuff. Might give it another go sometime, but the PP fits me better.

Totally get it being weird and getting along with the pocket piano better. I di notd like lsdj as much as nanoloop...but last time I messed with all that stuff was like 2001 or 2004.

aye that shit is a pain to use.. go the ez route and just use some VSTs :lol:

I bought mine in September of 2011 and have never reconsidered the purchase. They came out with the MIDI version shortly after that, but for sentimental reasons I can't imagine ever parting with my first Piano. If you like dreamy, blissful sounds that recall memories of an idyllic childhood wonderland, there's really nothing else like it.

i mean the organelle is a linux OS running pure data. the RBPi's is linux based and can run pure data.
seems to have a lot of the same features & processor as RBPi's do so i think it is safe to say they are probably atleast similar.
from what i've been reading it seems like getting low latency audio from the RBPi's is problematic or something.
at least thats what the internet would have me believe…really only one way to know for sure & that is to jump in.

what the organelle gives u is an optimized system for running audio stuff, an already figured out and tested interface for loading patches w/o the need of a monitor hooked up as well as the audio input and output and usb midi stuff, which is worth a lot esp if u are not so technically inclined to figure out all this shit on your own.

but a RBPI is like $35 or something. maybe figure in the cost of a USB audio interface and a midi controller/keyboard. maybe even a little display if u really wanted to. you're probably still only talking like ~$200-$250 depending on your choices or peripherals.

like i said prob still a lot to figure out and a jungle to hack your way thru…..better sharpen my blade :success:

Not tryna be a dick but run anything through two moogs and a space and it will sound amazing 9 times outta 9. I've heard some pocket piano sounds I really dig though. Really liked the graff video though! Really nice ambience.

Sherm that would be awesome!!! You should build some and launch on your site :) (well maybe not straight up clones but ya know yer own thing)
