Well my trusty XP-100 Whammy finally has started shitting the bed, which isn't bad considering how freaking old the thing is. So I held my nose and ventured over to Talkbass to find a used reissue Bass Whammy, since I've wanted to try one of those bad boys. And I realized that this is my first real gear purchase in well over a year. Unbelievable how much gear I bought between like 2009 - 2013 vs the last couple of years for me when I bought basically nothing. I also realized it had been well over a year since I changed my strings so I went and bought 3 new sets from Circle K, which I guess got renamed to Kalium strings sometime in the last year or so.

Well I got the new bass whammy in, and it's pretty damned cool. I like the fact that you can switch between the polyphonic mode, or the "classic mode" to get all of the warbly Lightning-Bolt-y glitches.

The one thing that I totally didn't realize is that the new whammys are DC now instead of AC. I know that's good news for everyone, but it's actually shitty news for me. My Cioks AC-10 doesn't have enough DC outputs for me to hook the whammy up, and the AC output is now totally useless for me. I tried daisy-chaining it on the high-current output with the Mobius, and that caused a high-pitched whine. So those two need to be isolated from each other power-wise. I doubt anyone is going to be willing to trade me a DC-10 for my AC-10, which just means I'm gonna have to eat the cost of yet another power supply.
