On the Mac / PC thing, if you aren't a very tech savvy person and also don't want to play games or anything like that, then it makes sense to get a Mac. They are easier to use for someone that just wants the basics.
If you want to play games, or are into tech, then it makes sense to get a PC. A PC - while less intuitive - is much more flexible. Also, Macs are always one generation behind in technology (hardware-wise). I hear people say a lot "Well, the Mac will last longer." The problem with that is that technology is only current for a few months - six max. After that you're running an outdated machine. It's actually cheaper to buy a new PC every six months (and be current with tech) than to buy one good Mac for a couple years (and be outdated). I also like to tinker with my hardware - much easier with a PC.
So, it's what you want it for. If all you need is the basics then you don't need to be running a super techy system, you probably want it to last a while, and you want it to be easy to use. A Mac is for you.
I've used Macs, Windows, and Linux, and I think my favourite system was one that was partitioned to run both Windows and Linux (I think I was using Slackware or maybe Gnome at the time? I forget the names).

I've been running Debian exclusively for five years now.
I'll never run closed software again, the development cycle is so high for Linux distros and software I've never been unable to accomplish a task.

the sudden thread switch to entropy and and destruction was so unnerving that it's almost nice to read about computer OSs.

i love how it's the first nice day and every chic thinks she needs to dress like a whore
The above is from my wife, part of a good rant I got on messenger, for some reason when it hits more than 70 in Central NY everyone takes one day to start a new walking regimen that they will never commit too, and the only way to walk around our neighborhood is in stripper style workout clothes. There is more to the rant but I am pretty proud of her anger. I know that some of you will say "oh that sounds hot" but in our neighborhood Victoria should keep more of her secrets.

In Boston, we called this phenomenon "halter-top day". The first day it hits 70 in Boston, every chick comes out wearing halter-tops. Good times.

"Halter-Top Day" That is awesome, yeah apparently the Local-H moms from the preschool were out in their finest Daisy Dukes and half dragon t-shirts as well.

I was rearranging my board and figured i put my destroyer back on for old time face crushing fun. So i decide to play with it for a bit before i velcro it up and stick it on. Plug it in, set it up... no sound. "Hmmm that weird", methinks, " a shitty cable tis the problem! Fuckin' cheap asshole i am, buyin' dem shitty cords!". so downstairs i go for a new cable. Upon my return i smell something burning, my first thought being that some random shit fell behind my heater, whatevs, that can be dealt with later. So I do it all again, still no sound. I unplug it, and then some smoke trails out of the enclosure, followed by a string of shame worthy words from myself... upon further inspection it was the pot for the starve control

At least it's a cheap and easy fix.

On an unrelated note, ordered 4 wire stripping wheels for a machine at work, having them shipped collect and they are still trying to charge me a $17.00 handling fee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just make the quoted cost higher, it's easier to sell that to my boss, plus I would be able to track the costing on these in the future.
If you can't figure out how to quote with overhead that shouldn't be my problem.
I hate rediculous handling fees, especially when the U-line box they will ship these in cost .25
Plus I got the chain e-mail explanation that starts ....due to rising cost....bull crap.....we have to charge..... more bull .......blah when I asked about it, at least offer a real explanation.

On a related note (handling fees and such) anyone else have Nstar electricity?
Ever take a look at your itemized bill? Delivery fee?? Like they think they're throwing a bunch of electricity in the back of a truck and driving it to my apartment. I hate them so much.

Yeah electricity delivery charges are amazing. The whole thing is rediculous, but they have a gun to our heads, need to keep those pedals and amps powered.
When is someone going to make a solar powered fuzz? I see there are solar tuners.
The current draw on some fuzz circuits is crazy low, this has to be possible.
