The shift was part of the modushape
Say if I wanted a tremolo that would Attack very sharply, but then have a nice natural slow decay. I would st the modushape to have a square wave on the left, and a sine wave on the right and shift the waveform to be more prominently a sine wave. So the result would be a tremolo that looks like this.
Now how about if I wanted that tremolo to have a slow even rise and then a fast smooth drop. I'd set the left to a triangle wave, and the right to sign and then use the shift to weight it to the triangle so the swelling is the larger part of the waveform.
The ramping is a sine wave with a controllable rate that can take whatever knobs you choose, and ride the knob up and down, depending on what direction you set it, to where you set it. Almost like a team of automated expression pedals. A built in modular rig.
Both are pretty cool features. Hard to say what the magic is between the features and Joel's usual good dialing in of the tone.
Here's Joel's description of the modushape:

Thank You DRod for learning me so science.
price wise it's kind of where i thought it would be though.
comparatively any company that makes phasers/chorus/flangers and delays/reverbs, delays and reverbs are always more the more expensive effects.
wombtone mkII is $375, so it makes sense that this would ONLY be $25 more.
can't wait for a video!

There is an argument that 1/2 of the Modushape is there. It just had to be a symmetrical shape.

Science!

Shape and modushape are very different. Still going to get this for the dip switch ramping and because all his effects sound so warm and natural.

Is that 400 msrp? Or is that the actual retail price? Seems high. I mean, I get it though. All Chase Bliss stuff is high. Plus he kind of owns the market on the way he creates things. You can't get anything similar for the price. My only things is I've decided I'm not willing to spend as much unless it's truly unique. So I'd have to hear clips first oh and have money. LOL

You don't want to hear 300bpm arpeggios on top of your delay demos?????? For shame!

Doesn't seem that expensive compared to other analogue delays?
Might hit it. Sometime. Would have a lot of fun with it. A lot of sexy fun.

I meant he took out the shift knob as well as the tri/sin/squ on each side
maybe that's 1/4 of the modushape box then

Yeah the full modushape engine wouldn't really have made sense with a delay
Bummed 'both' wasnt backwards
But it's probably out of my price range anyway
Still keen to hear clips!

I don't even know if MSRP really applies to CB, since the majority (or all?) of his dealers exclude his pedals from sales & such, & the going prices on their sites vs. his site is negligible (free shipping vs. paying shipping?) at best, which is why his own Black Friday deal was over & out within a day or so. Chicago Music Exchange is still his exclusive dealer for the Spectre, but aside from pre-owned, $400 looks to be the right number just about everywhere (unless you are outside the US).
But May is a while away, so

Knobs are great.
I knew this would be expensive but I'm gonna have to sit this one out until I can raise the scratch and the AU dollar creeps up again.
Stupid exchange rate....:grumble:

I don't know. I love the WV I have but now I can't get past that I actually found a mf104m for about 350€ last spring... That was probably once in a lifetime though, and this on is a lot more pedalboard friendly. But then again, big box=cooler...

UGH. I just can't shake the want for this. It's a delay and that's my only weakness. You know. Next to fuzz and other stuff.
