By room to expand I kind of just meant room to expand to 6U
I haven't even bought anything yet and I already know 3U won't be enough

The price seems pretty cheap for what it does, the waveforms look nice too.

Its really Plan B modules released through Subcon Records. The designer of Plan B(Peter Grenader) makes amazing modules, but is completely incapable of running a business. He screwed a shit load of people over and dissapeared for a bit. He's making things right by having a third party handle the business side for him, so he can pay everybody back. Search Plan B on muffwiggler.com and you should be able to find some epic threads.

Kevin Cey bought a pretty substantial Plan B system before the company finally came to an end. Both are based in California, and Kevin and Peter most likely already knew each other from the niche modular synth community.

Yeah, the Plan B VCO was highly sought after. Its pretty rad!

I just wanted to add that most Plan B modules are Buchla inspired designs. Their VCO's, filters, and gate modules incorporate vactrols into the circuit. Vactrols are the electronic equivalent of being drunk. To give you an idea, vactrols are a part of optical compressor circuits. Go ahead, buy a Subcon module. I guarantee you will not be dissapointed.

same problem :picard: I've had 5 basic modules for barely a month and I'm already considering a 9U case soon. I know my next module-buying spree will bust the 90HP I have :success:

my plan is the current 6U for now, then once that's filled, a monorocket skiff mainly for controllers (maybe a series of pressure points) and...another 6U (probably a doepfer low cost) hopefully by november! im already planning my second 6U on modulargrid

Deltaphoenix wrote:I think that is a solid plan to get the System 0 & ustep, but I wouldn't say you have a ton of room to expand…it is funny how quick Euro can grow. The good news is that you can turn the 3u case into a controller skiff. Or you can ask MakeNoise for a 6U case, it'll cost more but that will give you some room to expand. Or you can be very cautious and really try to make yourself stick to 3U. When you get a 3U case, you suddenly realize how small 90HP is...

Yeah, I agree with Delta. The System 0 is a legit choice. You'll be surprised at how much you can do with just a Maths and an osc. I'm waiting for a track to upload to Soundcloud right now that could give you an idea of what you could be capable of with a small setup. 3u is pretty easy to fill though... even with going slow. That's a good idea to see if MN can set you up with a 6u case for a little extra skrill... or better yet, see if you can't get one of those 7u cases with the 1u input/output/lighted mults strip that Cortini and James Cigler got hooked up with. That would be an easy way to make me jelly.

This is my current setup. I'm waiting on the Harvestman Polivoks VCF to show up (should've been in the mail today :grumpy: ). I know! I don't want to hear about it! I need some fucking vca's baaaad.

I know this track is a bit long. I don't expect anyone to sit down and listen to it all the way through. There are some neat stuff all the way through though. So maybe just play in the background while you drink some whiskey, or yell at the neighbor kids, or throw beer bottles at the cops as they drive by.

The first minute or so is just a beat I came up with on the euro. I decided to record it so I could pull all the patches and try something new. After that I just started messing with the Maths. I really need to start documenting these patches when I record them. I don't remember exactly what's going on. Most of it is the interaction between the Maths and Piston Honda. Maths CH1 is reseting CH4 at its EOR. A couple of cycling channels on the Quadra modulating stuff on the PH while being filtered by the MMG. And a pinch of the Dalek Modulator going through the Geiger Counter is thrown in somewhere in there. But yeah, all that craziness is just messing with the knobs on the Maths (or the MMG or "pitch" on PH briefly at a couple points). The things you could do with just the Maths and an osc or two :omg:

I had a VCA once. I really didn't understand the point :idk: I just use my MMG's inputs if I want to do any sort of rhythmic VCA type thing. Those Inteljels are fucking serious business

VCAs seem boring as fuk but they really are helpful and I definitely found the whole muffwiggler "You can never have enough VCA's" thing to be true when I had my modular. But now i've got my Nord Micro Modular so I can have infinite imaginary software vcas! :yay:

VCA's are important as fuck!!!!!!!! They go hand in hand with EG's. Its a fundamental core of synthesis. When triggered, an EG tells a VCA to open and close. The VCA is the gate keeper for audio and CV signals. You need EG's and VCA's for sequencing any event whether its audio or CV.

Some filters can also be used as a VCA :)
