I only dream in fuzz. And all the dialogue is in shades of fuzz texture. The merkin/fizz rite friends can be SO loud and annoying.

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I feel the same way. I tried and failed to understand how a joke of a Klon is any different from an actual Klon.

Not a big fan of taking the piss?

Look, the fact is that as musicians we all fall into the holy grail of tone quest--some people call it fragile upper harmonics, some people call that a pedalboard big enough to hide a kilo of coke in, some people like cupcakes and cupcakes exclusively (myself, I say there is not, nor aught there be, nothing so exalted on the face of God's great earth than that prince of foods--the Muffin).

What we're doing is taking one super-sought-after piece of gear that, for a particular kind of player, represents not only the "hey doodz on the interwebs, I got bling and lots of toys to prove it" fix, but also the "emotive, touch-responsive, transparent overdrive that I spent many a night having wet dreams over listening to that one record from when I was sixteen" kick. As far as I can tell, the Klon's userbase seems to be largely made up of peeps in the midst of a mid-life crisis.*

So we're cloning it and adding a "fucks everything up" button. What's not to love?

*Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The answers to these questions we may never know.

The egg came first, dinosaurs were laying egg's millions of years before modern day "chickens" evolved.... Now if you wanted to reword the question to...

Which came first the Chicken or the Chicken Egg?

Then you have a conundrum worth pondering..... But even then a chicken must exsist before a chicken egg can exsist due to the fact that if another creature layed an egg and produced a chicken it would still be an egg from the originating animal and not a chicken egg unless you label the egg by its contents and not the animal produced it and then yes the chicken egg would have exsisted first.....

Thanks, D.o.S., for taking the time to explain.

I get that everyone wants to be able to make the sounds they hear in their head, their ideal guitar tones. I understand the part about making fun of people who fall for the Klon hype. I think it's funny to have a pedal with Klon-ish graphics on it. What I don't understand is why you guys want to actually incorporate a Klon circuit into the ILF version of the Klon. If there isn't any appeal for that specific circuit in the first place, why even include it? Why not just make something more "fucks everything up" to begin with and call it a Klon? Am I missing the joke completely or are you guys taking something that's only a little bit funny to an extreme?

IDK. I guess I've never really been a person who follows trends.

The main idea as I saw it was to make a run of affordable klons so people here who can't afford the crazy price tag could see what they're like, and as a bonus add some sweet graphics and maybe a fuck-shit-up button. :idk:

The Klon is actually a pretty useful pedal...
It's also a pretty unique design as far as "boutique" overdrives go.

It's mostly used for lawyer blues because blues lawyers are the only ones who can afford it.
I'm sure the fine folks of ILF will make some noisy f'ed up stuff with their klonopins, with or without the second mode.

For instance, I'll be using it on bass.

I would never in a million years get to try out a Klon on bass. But, thanks to Klonopin, that's happening so hard.

No matter how much we shit on the pedal, we all secretly crave the upper harmonics that can only be obtained only through the fragile crystal lattice of a 500 dollar boost pedal.

There. He said it. And I've posted in this thread that puzzled me at the beginning but is getting more and more entertaining. Upon reading it I found it amusing that everybody is so aroused about this and at the same time I don't believe it's really going to happen.

Who says there's no appeal for the Klon circuit? I think there are plenty of people here that are interested in trying something new, possibly improved, and previously out of reach. Taking something and mod'ing it is definitely the way of ILF. I never understand why people have the attitude that something sucks, when they've never tried it or even heard it in real life, just because it's revered by a group they don't want to be a part of. I have a few pedals that are considered TGP pedals (Timmy, Strymon delays) and it's not like those are hyped for no reason. They are great pedals. I don't see many of us going out and buying a D.A.M. Ram's Head or Cornish Muff, that doesn't mean the Big Muff circuit is now off limits, or lame. It's just a circuit. Components, wires and switches. If you can make music with it then that's what's important. There's a handful of guitarists that people here love who have Klons on their board, so it can't be that awful.

I agree 100%.

I actually want the circuit. Most of the builders though are charging too much, and they look like shit. This will hopefully be the opposite.

Oh and it'll happen. Although it won't be a large quantity (15-30 maybe) unless Brian wants to start making them. :snax: he will be designing the layout and additional goodie so it's his call.

But since it's limited we may need to do something to ensure we don't have a flood of TGPrs signing up for them.

Post limit maybe?

Also, part of me wants exactly the Klon, but part of me wants the builder of this to take this into consideration, possibly simply to just make things easier.

Has Klon in it, also is a high potency benzodiazepine that will fuck you up.

Chalk it up to tongue in cheek humor I guess?
