Ryan wrote:Well dudes, the last update was lost but I do have a proper prototype now. I figured out the problem with the clock was the low mA smd trannies, off they went, and everything else works as it should except for my backwards flub with the treble control and the rate control could be smoother.
So one more prototype! I need to focus on building pedals for a couple weeks and the layout changes will be tough so it'll probably be awhile before I get to do the next prototype but it's definitely been a round of progress with the last boards.
The v3 does have a slightly brighter wet signal but it'll never be bright and clear like a digital chorus.. there's just too much filtering required to get the clock noise and hiss out of the signal. On a v2 with the treble knob all the way up that's actually adding 15dB of treble boost, believe it or not. (Do believe it though, it's true) So that's all the boost I can really do, max treble boost already.
I think I'll keep the 3 clock ranges pretty much the same as the v2 so there'll be subtle, medium, and extreme settings. Covers all the bases!
I do like the weirdness too... I like to set it fast and wet and weird and it sounds like when death metal guys play notes real fast and scary sounding... works awesome with the hold.
exciting update is exciting!
glad we're back on-track after the dropped posts.

I don't think we lost anything important with the lost posts so we should be all up to date with the new CC. Man I wish I had a week to just finish it up!
I'm starting to get behind with orders again though, a month-ish lead time, so I have to keep pushing hard to get pedals out. I guess this is the one big negative of a one-man show, I'm flippin slow to get new stuff ready.
Jon, you're gonna love this new version and I promise it's going to be perfect right outta the gate, no tune ups required!

Can't wait for this one... v2 is already near perfection to me.

Syl, you play a guitar with humbuckers, hey? Do you find your v2 clipping very much?

Yes, I have humbucker (they can split to single coil).
No it's not clipping at all. I run overdrive and fuzz into the CC, still not clipping.
But I'm playing at bedroom level. I will try it at higher volume soon... I'll let you know.

Right on, that's awesome to hear. I think through the run of v2 that was the biggest complaint I heard and my biggest anxiety about the pedal, the headroom.. it's interesting though that for some people it wasn't an issue at all. Makes it hard for me to know where a reasonable headroom limit is...

wasn't an issue for me, even running a synth into it (which run hotter then humbuckers

I know you and I were talking about it and you expressed concern, but I winded up picking up a V.2 and headroom isn't an issue at all for me either. I do play passive basses. I Love it!

Cool guys, thanks for the info. Maybe it's just the active pickup people of the world that don't get along well with the Cosmi... like the guys with bass guitars running off car batteries... need a lot of headroom for that.

My bass is dual active and I never had a problem with the Cosmi.
I mean, I don't think I did at least.
