I don't remember Lester Bowie ever playing violin, dubs.

I know all those guys were multi-instrumentalists, but could you point me to some examples of his violin playing?

sorry, that was a memory error...i was thinking of Leroy Jenkins, who was also an AACM member and played on "Rawalpindi Blues" on Escalator Over The Hill. sometimes it's hard to keep all the AACM guys sorted out.

Yeah, dubkitty, somebody needs to keep you in check. (Especially since one of the tenets of the AACM is multi-instrumentalism.)
