Yeah man, its kinda shitty. I support our armed forces 100% but all of my buddies that are in or just got out are saying the exact same thing. One of my friends was hit with IEDs 3 different times on two different tours (once in Iraq and once in Afghanistan) and his dealings with the VA are a fucking nightmare. J.R. is fucking pumped though and he's been talking about going since before he started playing in the last band that we were both in. On one hand I'm excited for him and then on the other I'm pissed because I want him to stay with me and play music. The I realize that is my dream and not his and I start feeling even more like an asshole. I'm happy for him, but he's a damn fucking good drummer. He's the only one I know who can stay in tempo for a whole song. Plus he can blast for about 10 minutes straight too.AxAxSxS wrote:Man that sucks. Speaking as a person who just got out of the Army, let me just say that now is not a good time to join. the attitude from the top down has changed from "we're going to support soldiers and get them everything they need to succeed" to "If soldiers don't like it they can get out" I doubt you can talk him out of it as people get fired up over doing something like that. It's a huge commitment. But yeah, kinda shitty man.conky wrote:Our drummer told us the other day that he is planning on going into the army and if he can drop 9 more lbs he will be leaving to go to basic training in July or August. The drummer supply here is non existent so I'm gonna just take his spot when he leaves. We started writing with that lineup the other night before he got there and came up with this intro for a new song. Matt (t0thesun) traded his AOR for a Music Man hd150 and it sounds great with a Revelation in front of it. My drumming sucks, but I didn't wanna push it and undo any good that this wrist surgery has done.

Awww....christianatl wrote:Sounds great, Conky!
Needs work, and different fills here and there but not bad for just having wrist surgery.ShaolinLambKiller wrote:
also I thought your drumming was good. enjoyed the jam.
neonblack wrote:Move an hour north to Rome and you can get practice spaces on the super cheap. There's a guy that runs a storage facility here that is totally cool with bands practicing in his units, and there's 24 hour access, and did I mention cheap?christianatl wrote:Oh man. I wish we could do that here. They absolutely will not let bands do that in ATL. Our space is 15x18 and it's $450 a month. And that's pretty standard here.
The only downside, obviously, would be living in Rome.
Or go an hour south of Atl to the Macon / Warner Robins area. That is where my band is based out of. It fucking sucks.neonblack wrote:Hahaha thats how I feel every time I leave the house.
Have you ever been here before? It was recently rated #5 on the 10 cheapest places to live in the US. Its so cheap because there are no other redeeming qualities. Just McDonalds and meth.
I have to get the fuck out of here.
I wanted to go to this but I missed it. Having responsibilities and a job sucks a turd straight out of a dirty butthole sometimes.christianatl wrote:Thread cleaner:

True... they do get good reviews actually and aren't expensive when found...ShaolinLambKiller wrote:Cause those seem to be the ones even casual guitar players that like peavey want to have as well.
What's wrong with speedo's? They're functional, but their fashion isn't for everyone.D.o.S. wrote:What's wrong with angled cabs?
