I like JSRF more than the original, but remade...I dunno man.
Well, they both have their strong points.

Ahhhhhhhh man.
Hopelessly sucked into this mod for Arma II called Day Z. You start somewhere on the giant-ass Arma map (I think 230 square kilometers or somethin') with only a bandage, flashlight, painkillers and your backpack, and you have to scrounge for food/medicine/gear/guns. Plus zombies everywhere.
It gets pretty intense when you run into another player in the city and quickly have to either identify yourself as friendly through the ingame voicechat, or hide and hope you can either kill him or run. Most servers don't have a server-wide chat channel and you can only hear ingame voices out to like 50 meters so it's very easy to run into someone and freak out.
People get held up and robbed of their guns out in the middle of nowhere...guns are so valuable and it could take you a few days of traveling to get fully geared up with good shit. I saw a dude get shot in the legs from at least a mile away by a sniper in the hills while a pack of zombies was chasing him. He started crawling but of course he was done. IT WAS AWESOME. Another time I saw someone screaming the lyrics to "What's Going On" while sprinting through the city with 15-20 zombies in tow.

One of the more common weapons is an old bolt-action rifle that people call the "dinner bell" because if you fire it in a city every single zombie is gonna start shambling your way. So it's hilarious to make a nervous player shoot it at you while you run the hell away.

Me and a friend found a wrecked bus on the main road going into one of the big cities, so it became our mission to get it going. We found a toolbox, but had to sneak around and search for two tires, engine parts and a few jerry cans to fill it up. On the way to fill the cans we came across a dead zombie outside an apartment building, so my friend (armed with a crossbow and one bolt) rushed his ass up the stairs, saw two guys also armed with crossbows, quickly asked if they were friendly and caught two arrows to the stomach. He's laid out on the floor bleeding to death, so I run up there, axe one guy in the face while he's trying to loot my not-dead-yet friend, and hide behind a wall in this super tiny 3 room apartment. I started taunting the guy in voice chat and running between rooms, and after a couple minutes he lost nerve and booked it outta the building and down the street. Finished off his bleeding partner and used the bandages from his pack to get my friend going again. So now we have this bus parked waaaaaay out in the wilderness. Hopefully nobody will steal or destroy it while we're offline. We're like...a couple hours' worth of ingame walking from any major city.

UGH THE MOD IS STILL IN ALPHA STAGE BUT ITS SO FUN AND SUCH A HUGE WASTE OF TIME

Oooh. That does sound entertaining. Am I right in understanding that you couldn't play it in the free version?

yeah, gotta drop $30 for the "combined operations" pack thingy, unfortunately. I don't even like Arma. Just the mod.
Due to the engine and the early alpha stage of development, the mod is still clunky and the shooting is kinda awkward and zombie AI is kinda awful, but it's still fun. You just have to accept that you will at some point have to run through a field for 30 minutes, you will get sniped out of nowhere eventually, and you will lay down next to a tree for cover only to get sucked into it and emerge bleeding and broken, out of bandages and far from anywhere you might spawn next life.
My friend was decked out in camo clothes and with a nice shotgun, but still got killed by some asshole who just spawned near an awful, weak pistol and snuck up on us. An hour after killing that dude, I went AFK in a field for all of 2 minutes and came back to a "You are dead" screen.

Finally got around to beating Demon's Souls. Honestly once I actually started to put time into upgrading equipment it wasn't that hard. And that last boss....so disappointing. :( Started NG+ though and whoops tower knight killed me...again.

I couldn't get it really working...graphics-wise it was fine, except every few seconds it'd pause for half a second or so.
But I don't think that after having played newer MMOs I could adapt to the controls and interface. Felt really weird.
I really want to like it though. I like the PlayOnline thing. It seems like a game that would have been AMAZING had it been my first MMO.

I dug ffxi because I could do almost everything with the keyboard. Movement with the numpad and the camera controlled by the arrows with my thumb.
Also helped that I had a macro keyboard. I'd have like 20 equip swaps and dialogue lines bound to every spell/ability.

Kinda awkward when playing on a notebook though.

Macro keyboards are rad.

I'm addicted to pocket planes.
