Congratulations for taking the rad road - there's no asking forgiveness from now on!

Multistring basses thrash Your bands low end and mig range AND treblz like nothing else.Thrash a nine string chord with that one, through a fuzz pedal and hundreds of watts of power and there is NO audience You can't subdue into submission. Plus You can do VERY nasty things with tuning the double octave strings... just a hint, if You're feeling adventurous

10-30% detuning + OD is bad medicine, mark my words. Just... if there's guitarists in Your band... leave them also a little room in the mix, okay?
How do You find the Galveston action? Is it hard or very hard?
I used to rock 12 string Hamer myself in some songs with my old all bass guitars band. I relly regret secretly selling it but, You know, since it stayed in the band even after I leaved it makes me feel a little better...

it's definitely a very cool instrument. i'm not a bassist but it blew me away how cool it was. it sounded pretty decent, and the action felt pretty nice. that whole 2 octaves a string thing is crazy. he hasn't really played it too much, and he's thinking he may end up selling it. i bet you can do some crazy stuff with that thing tho.

Holy balls.
Check this out:

My friend bought it when we were about 16 and totally into metal. 7 string bass. The lowest string was almost inaudible.

Don't know much about it, except it has 2 p90's a bass roll off switch, and it is the most comfortable guitar I have EVER played.

I'm not keen on the Big Al shape but that color and FB combo is FUCKING
Could be worse,...could be a Bongo

I's SO want to try out all those basses. Have to go to the local Bass Center and test run all the new stuff.
To me the Bongo body seems, with it's a brave, futuristic body shape with both straight angles and curves together to be meaning to say
fusion jazz.

I kinda see the point in it but I don't really like it too much myself

I almost had my bass made into a shape with the same concept. Almost.
Bongo sounds fine though, nothing to complain about that.... but I still haven't got to play Big Al. I'm always getting restless with it when I see

the lovely basses

thegumbootman, the inaudible seventh strings need a good boost, for sure. Nothing a good modern bass preamp couldn't push, with a little tweaking, but the cab definitely needs to be BIG, to balance the lows and highs. I'd suggest an extra with a 15" or a 18".
