I went on a guitar shop odyssey yesterday to check out amps but instead I fell head over-heels in love with a pre-lawsuit Ibanez Firebird. I'm not kidding; I seriously can't stop thinking about this thing and am going to go buy it the second the store opens tomorrow.
It's pretty beat up, but for $180 this piece of history is a fucking steal.

I'm getting my tax rebate back, just before vacation now. Unleash the GAS.

I haven't bought it yet. I'm going to see if I can haggle a Yamaha SS head for a partial trade.
It pretty much looks like this:

except with a natural wood finish, a number of dents and whatnot, and missing a couple knobs. It still sounds dandy though. I know my mom is going to kill me if she finds out I bought another guitar especially since I still need to get a beefier amp, for the band I may be joining, which is probably going to cost me upwards of $500.
...but I've seriously been thinking about this guitar all night.

Seriously, I've never felt this was about a girl, but when I saw that guitar chillin' in the used section it was

Especially saying something since I was there to look at amps. I'm starting to hope that my transfer requests for this fall semester get rejected or were somehow past due so I can just blow all this money I've been saving on gear.
TL;DR I'm GASing like crazy.
EDIT: Looks exactly like this(minus a knob and the switch):

Headstock:

Either way, I could probably fix 'er up and flip is for made profit. Maybe add a Bigsby or something along those lines.

Quoting it again because it's fucking gorgeous. Non-reverse Firebird and the tuners are flipped too. $180 is a steal, you can't not buy it. I like the TOM/stoptail bridges so I wouldn't throw a Bigsby on it, maybe a pickup change if anything.

Only in the past week have I really experimented with my amp's drive channel. I like it a lot. Both have their uses and sound different when hit by effects. The clean channel sounds best to me for synthy fuzz and the drive excites...fuzzy fuzz nicely.
YEAH I THINK THE VB-2'S DRIVE CHANNEL SOUNDS NICE ALL BY ITSELF TOO SO SUCK IT TALKBASS
SORRY ITS NOT A VINTAGE AMPEG BROS
HATERS GONNA HATE

I can not buy it. Because when I came back the next day somebody already bought it.
Silver lining is that that means I still have monies for buying an amp which is what I really need. I spotted a real nice Carvin MTS 3200 head at a different shop for $320. I think I might jump on that one tomorrow. See if they'll take a partial trade on my Yamaha head and Torn's Peaker.

Find out who bought it then break into their place to liberate that poor guitar.

That's awesome, I just need to avoid the fact that it appears to be a quadriplegic tiger.

Gotta prioritize. Great guitar,...probably won't see another like it for so cheap (unless you ebay,....which I much prefer try before buy) but it sounds like you need and amp more so then another geetar.
I really REALLY want this $1000 1968 Ampeg Portaflex B-15N I tried out at a local pawn/music shop. I could easily put it on layaway and pay it down but I need to buy parts and tools maybe a Tele and some pups. The upside is that B-15 schems are seemingly easily sourced,....so I'll just build a clone.
Wrings hands menacingly

exactly. I definitely didn't need the guitar. Got the amp for $250 + a Torn's Peaker(see thread in Gear page). They even put new power tubes in right in front of me. So Milwaukee ILF crowd, or anybody just passing through, check out Wade's Guitar Shop in Shorewood by the UWM campus. Real nice dudes, real awesome gear. Rickenbackers and Eastwoods galore.
In other news, I think Time Warner is supposed to install our new internet towmorrow afternoon which means no more going to the coffee shop for free wifi at the cost of a $3.50 latte or sneaking on the computer at work(like I am now). It also means no more waiting for videos to load/torrents to download, and I'm not just talking about porn!
