Clothing impedes movement.
If you get really sweaty, your shirt gets heavy and it restricts your movement. I have some pants that stretch uncomfortably when I'm seated at the kit. If you're recording, he may want to be as unencumbered as possible you get the tracks done right and done quickly.
Or maybe he's just a sexy beast!

Was he wearing a track suit and didn't want the swishing noise to get picked up by the mics?
Maybe he just always takes his clothes off when he has people watching him do something through a pane of glass.

In my band with two drummers, one immediately removes most of his clothing. The other keeps his shirt and (usually very skinny) jeans on at all times. They fatigue at about the same rate. so,

I keep my shirt on to protect everyone from the blinding glare of ma belly, but I do prefer looser shorts.
I'm also relatively new to the drums, so I'm not completely crazy yet.

I know the swishing part makes sense, but a track suit? Is he in the mafia/The 6-Million Dollar Man?

i suspect that with the drummers, as with most athletic-ish male activity, there's a barely-suppressed current of homoeroticism going on.

My old drummer used to play in like...speedo-esque underwear with no shirt on, and he resembled Shrek...a lot. Needless to say it was a sad time for us all having gay Shrek as a drummer.

I hate when I go on facebook and see rants/critiques against Obama's economic policies when the people writing them don't have all their information straight (if they bother to use information at all) and aren't even old enough to pay taxes.
