Whoa! I need to know more about this right here!
Aria Cardinal series bass, CSB-450. It's pretty badass. Super well built and playable. Beautiful neck. What I like best is the look. The 450 was the most deluxe of the CSB style, which was the cheapest Aria design. The pre-Dootlitle Kim Deal sound is some sort of CSB.

I got this a couple weeks ago but haven't posted about it. I played it in Seattle and had it shipped to my place when I got back. The brand says Lafayette but I'm not really sure what that means. Anyway it looks weird, was cheap, has a nice comfy big neck, plays great and sounds great too.

I love those fret markers. How do the pickups sound?

That means it's a Teisco imported by Lafayette Electronics.

Here's a demo of a similar bass from our friend Lawrence:

The neck pup is round and deep kinda like a P split coil, and the bridge sounds like a J but less snarly and honky, a little smoother. i can make a demo or something if you guys wanna hear it

thanks guys :) I am interested in putting a foam mute on it, I think it would get me close to the flatwound sound. I much prefer the feel of the grooves on a roundwound strings. Would that be something that would be easy to DIY?

(Very sneaky with your unlisted video. I was just wondering why it didn't appear in my feed.)

That bass does sound good.

A lot of those basses had a foam mute under the bridge cover. Yours is missing the bridge cover. You could try to find one that fits or maybe make one. Shouldn't be too difficult.

It's sad no one uses mutes anymore… such cools sounds to be had...
