I have a '78 Musicmaster (well, I have separated the neck and body for other things) with one of those blade pickups in it. It's a pretty sick bass. The neck is pretty hefty, so you shouldn't feel super uncomfortable if you're used to a P neck contour.

And the pickup swap really helps bring back the tone. Mine is like a Dimarzio with crazy amount of output. Easily twice as loud as my Mustang basses.

You'll probably like it. I even love that natural finish, which is usually not my thing.

When I got my 400+ I tried it through a GK 15 and the GK acted like a dog that had been kicked feeling sorry for it's self.. poor little thing

;)
What kind of cab did you end up with?

There's a dude in OK selling a Mesa cab at a killer price. Problem is it's a 4 hour drive. UGH.

I have a Mesa 1x15 that I use for most stuff :thumb: It's light, loud, clear, sounds great, really I want another… I also use a SWR 1X18 that I've had for ever… still sounds cool and is massive… I want another one of those two.. damned local pickup only fuckers  I don't want a new one! I want one like mine

Found a used Mesa 4x12 Rectifier cab in my local area. Dude only wants 300 for it. Shit it's worth it.

One thing that confuses me about Mesa though so far is they don't take Speakon cables. Weird.

Isn't that a guitar cab?
The rectifier is a guitar head...

Not having speakon cables is a major plus to me.

Can't fucking stand those things.
