That aside, the overall design for the pedal is fugly as all hell.
^this.

Reminds me of around 2015 when it felt like every large company in the country went to a cleaner logo design... which is already dated within itself.

ex. Google, Burger King, Dominos etc.

A friend of mine told me about this new CBA Pedal, which led me to checking out the thread on it over at TGP and my god that place is gross.

I'm right there with you on this one. The artwork is terrible IMO and I'm not really interested in paying that much for a pedal without stereo options. I know the price hasn't been announced but I think we all know this is gonna be at least 399 but I'm guessing it'll be closer to 500. It'll be interesting to actually hear how it sounds though.

I'm kinda baffled that anyone is buying these $350~500 digital CBA peds

given that others e.g. Red Panda are offering arguably more experimental stuff with stereo I/O and more processing power for much less money I don't understand the appeal at all :idk:

I was always under the impression that the dip switches were a dream for most people, and if they didn't actively utilize them, there was always that possibility. A $399+ possibility, but still!

I also would hate to admit that most CBA pedals look great on a board, too (similar form factor for most of the line), since I loathe to think about that, but if you have the scratch I guess looks don't hurt, either (we are what we eat, etc.).

I don't argue with CBA making great sounding pedals, but I'm in the PASS camp everytime, as has been for years now.

I'm glad Joel & co are doing good & everything, but their niche is not really what I'd call feasible to my ways & means (maybe it never was?). They know their product & their audience, so the revamp doesn't seem too far off the mark, and their ppl will embrace it whole hog, cash in hand.

But if they made a sub $200 paulstretch junky, I'd probably bite

if they made a $200 paulstretch junky, i'd skate across the frozen torturefields of Hel and personally hand my two hundred American dollars to Joel :thumb:

I love the idea of Chase Bliss pedals and I've owned a few, but for the price, I would prefer a larger pedal with more immediate controls and stereo I/O.

I can't make any sense out of the new logo. The part on the right looks like a C, and the part on the left looks like...nothing?

Edit: clearly my brain is damaged

when their original analog pedals dropped, they really pushed the envelope on how much you could fit in an enclosure that size. and most modulation pedals still only offered a couple simple waveforms.

i can only assume people are continuing to apply the same logic to their digital stuff, even if it's not true at this point.

and i suppose the ability to modulate parameters is something that's not available on other pedals, even the tensor (without expression, anyway). but i'm not sure how many folks really use those switches. maybe in studio?

well, i think parameter modulation pre-existed CBA (Boss multieffects for one), and is becoming more common in other fx, especially those with flexi expression arrangements or midi control
it'd be interesting to build a Habit inside Beebo or Zoia :snax:

that said, the CBA designs seem to try to walk the line between full tweakerization and user friendliness - obviously there are many who want to jump on that line, but i can also see other preferences taking the fore for folks too....

i do appreciate the balance for many of the pedals which is encouraging of exploration/intuition as well as analytical overdrive - that's why i'm looking at the pre-release tease
but i see why that balance doesn't feel right to others

i do hope it gets past the stage it's been at where there's a "surprise" release and then a mad rush to jump in whether you're really ready to commit or even fully understand what you're buying :idk:

in the early days of the company there was more air on both ends - the features were easier to suss out from an image; and the decision to buy wasn't as time-pressured
in the end, the last few releases didn't engender positive feelings for me even tho i bit on a few of them.

who knows--these are purportedly in the hands of dealers - maybe that will significantly change the second part of that equation :snax:

this got lost in the CBA wave - i'm interested too, tho i don't have any intel :snax:
Earthquaker has a sub here, but it's pretty echoey in there the past coupla years :idk:

yep - it was fairly active back in the day
i think it was the mass disappointment with the discontinuation of the Tusk that rang the death knell :p
