but what do i know, my thoughts don't matter because i'm a healthy, well-off bleach-skinned person.
wow im so edgy.
I'm super confused here. Are these your opinions, that you believe are controversial because Youtube disagrees with them? Or are they the opinions of would-be provocateur Youtubers? Forgive me; most of my time on Youtube is limited to putting on Little Baby Bum or ChuChuTV videos for my toddler.

At first I thought you were claiming the latter, but your comment at the end there sort of indicates they're your opinions. Unless you meant it as ironic meta-commentary, which now I'm thinking you probably did. Anyway, they're mostly really shitty opinions.

 You're right, deleted my post.

Uh how about this,

Guitar and Pedal culture is boring as fuck. This is on me and getting older probably but jesus its so saturated and uninteresting right now. (yeah there are exceptions but this is the controversial opinion thread!)

Most of the time a guitarist with three pedals is wayyyy more entertaining than one with 15 (guilty) and I hate that I can't pair down my set up and commit to that life!

Tater tots are not fries.

IPAs are overrated.

Mostly, in that some are just more ignorant than shitty.

I think there's a very strong overlap in guitar pedal culture and IPA culture in that, you have this cool undergroundish thing that has sort of steamrolled into a broader, more mainstream appeal where 1 in every 5 suburban dads can talk about it in probably too much depth. My local guitar store, which is right next to the supermarket and is a bastion of uncoolness, carries EQD now. It doesn't actually make the cool weird thing any worse and I'm not saying the other suburban guitar dads don't actually appreciate this stuff as well. But I get the impression that some of the attraction lies in the easy cultivation and consumption of expertise.

Most of the music I listen to and play uses guitar effects very sparingly if at all and I'm not even sure about the last time I listened to a fuzz pedal on an album. But I've got 7 effects on my board at the moment with one incoming! I've spent more time in the past two weeks watching pedal demos than listening to or playing music. :wha?: Maybe that's a big part of the problem with guitar culture right now. I'm sure it's not just me.

And re: tots. There's this bar around the corner from my office and many of my colleagues were always going on about "they have the *best* tater tots!" I usually don't hit up happy hour with them because I have a long commute, but after a few years of hearing them yap about it, I ended up there for a holiday party. It was just regular-ass Ore Ida tater tots! I was so disappointed. Then someone pointed out it was actually the dipping sauces that made them the best . Chipotle honey mustard is good and all but fuck off.

Craft Beer culture is basically glorified Alcoholism. Your average IPA is from 6-8% abv with your trendy DIPA being +8%, your average dude is going to have a minimum of 3 in a session - yet beers under 4% have the tinniest hold in the market and the 'craft' of a good Summer Ale or Lager gets overlooked. Say what you will about Wine and Whisky collectors, atleast there's some sort of justification of value in their industry.

I love it all as much as the next guy, but that habit can easily creep up on you.
