i love mandolins, but i don't think folks think of them as "other guitars" in the same sense as, say, an oud or one of those odd little Cubano things. i would like to find one like the Giannini mandolin i used to have until the sound board cracked. flat top and slightly domed back in a teardrop shape that's traditional to Portugal. mine had a cedar top and was the loudest fucking mandolin i have ever heard. it really excelled at blues. Google "portuguese mandolin."

problem there is, i can't see any way to access the electronics without literally taking the thing apart. otherwise i'd be watching the fuck out of it. looks like there's a mini-switch with the shank broken off.
